Picking a NBA Pickem team 3-25-14

Whats going on fellow fantasy players? Last night was a decent night for me again. I advanced all three teams through in the survivor, and cashed both of my entries in the $22 GPP. Tonight has a short slate of games on hand for us, and we will need to be precise to cash, and, or win. Tonight we will be looking to advance in the survivor, and DS is coming back with $22 gpp again, and we will be looking to cash there again. Lets get into this short slate of games.

Tier 1

#1 Kyle Lowry
#2 Nicolas Batum
#3 Russell Westbrook (questionable)
#4 Pau Gasol (doubtful)

With a few injuries here, this tier comes down to two players for me. I think this was an easy choice to go with Lowry over Batum. Lowry has averaged almost 38 FP’s a game in the last fifteen, and the Cavs defense hasn’t defended PG’s better since the injury to Iriving. Lowry should be able to exploit Jarrett Jack tonight, and have a very nice stat line. Lowry should be around 22/5/9.

Tier 2

#1 Damian Lillard
#2 DeMar DeRozan
#3 Serge Ibaka
#4 Nikola Vucevic

I am going to continue here with my same theory, when Aldridge does not play Lillard is the primary beneficiary, and even though he had a poor shooting effort last night he still put up almost 30 FP. The match up gets a lot easier tonight against the Magic. Lillard should have one of those nights tonight where we all go WOW! Look for Lillard to be around 24/5/9.

Tier 3

#1 Monta Ellis
#2 Amir Johnson
#3 Jordan Hill
#4 Dirk Nowitzki

This was a tough tier here as I could not decipher between the top three for the longest time. In the end I decided to go with Ellis as the Thunder have struggled against SG’s since the injury to Thabo. Ellis has been playing very well as of late too as he has been over 31 the past three games. In this projected high scoring game we are going to have to target some players, and this may be the best opportunity. Look for Ellis to be arond 26/3/7.

Tier 4

#1 Victor Oladipo
#2 Tyson Chandler
#3 Dion Waiters
#4 Jarrett Jack

I had another tough decision here between Oladipo, and Chandler. Ultimately Oladipo was the decision as the Blazers do not defend the guard spots well. If they guard him with Lillard, then Oladipo will have his way on the offensive end. Oladipo had a solid game against the Lakers the other night going for 34 FP’s. We should be able to get a 30 FP game from him again tonight, as the Blazers are coming off a tough defeat in Miami last night. Look for Oladipo to be around 18/6/5.

Tier 5

#1 Amare Stoudemire
#2 Raymond Felton
#3 Tobias Harris
#4 Luol Deng
#5 Jonas Valanciunas
#6 Spencer Hawes

Another tier with not clear cut player at the top, and this one came down to two teammates. The Lakers can’t defend any position well, and these two will get their fair share of FP’s. In the end though I decided to lean towards Amare over Felton. Amare is averaging just under 25 FP’s the last fifteen games, and in that span the worst team against opposing PF’s is the Lakers. Amare should have one of his better games tonight, and be around 18/8/3.

Tier 6

#1 Jodie Meeks
#2 Arron Afflalo
#3 Robin Lopez
#4 Anderson Varejao
#5 Shawn Marion
#6 Wesley Matthews

Tough tier here, as any of the six players could be the top player. The biggest question mark I have in this tier is Varejao. I decided his limited minutes, and tough match up would be a problem though. I ultimately decided Meeks was the play. Meeks should be able to expose J.R. Smith when he is guarding him, and continue his recent success. Meeks is the kind of player that is going to give us a solid 20-25, and I am willing to except that here. Look for Meeks to be around 18/3/3.

Tier 7

#1 Kyle O’Quinn
#2 J.R. Smith
#3 Vince Carter
#4 Jose Calderon
#5 Tristian Thompson
#6 Samuel Dalembert

I am going back to another steady player. O’Quinn is consistently between 20 and 25, and that’s about what were looking for out of him. O’Quinn is the type of player who starts gets about 25 minutes, and shoots a high percentage, and rebounds the ball well. The match up with Dorrell Wright is a above average match up for O’Quinn as he is much stronger than Wright. Look for O’Quinn to be around 13/11/1.

Tier 8

#1 Nick Young
#2 Kendall Marshall
#3 Dorell Wright
#4 Ryan Kelly
#5 Greivis Vasquez
#5 Devin Harris

I usually do not recommend a top play in tier eight, because bottom tiers are so tough, but I LOVE Nick Young tonight. Young has had 19, and 25 FP’s since returning from injury, and I think tonight he explodes for 30 plus. The Knicks have a solid rank against SG’s recently, but I am not too sold on that stat. We all know J.R. does not play any defense, and Young is going to love that, as he is the same kind of player. I think we will see a very high scoring game, and plenty of open looks to go around here. Look for Young to be around 25/3/2.

Good luck to all tonight.
