Taking a Stand: NBA 3/9
Hello Rotogrinders community! I joined RG last year and became a frequent user within the past few months. Since then I have really learned a lot about DFS. I enjoy reading many of the blogs out there and thought I should contribute. I had an idea for a blog that I thought would be fun to write… so here it goes.
A little about me as a player… I typically play 1-4 lineups. I play primarily GPP’s but also use some cash games to help keep my bankroll afloat, and limit the damage during rough patches.
I am going to use this space to share a handful of players that I feel strongly about before each slate. This can be players I am for or against. If I’m for a player it is going to be one I’ll likely play in ALL of my lineups (core player). If I am against them, I’m taking a stand against them and not playing them in any lineups. Players that I write up in the against section will be ones that are likely to be popular plays. Following my picks from the day I’ll try to reflect on the ones I picked the day before, as well as write about anything else I feel like writing about.
I primarily play on FD so my recommendations will be based on their pricing.
Patty Mills – $3,700: Patty Mills is the first guy I’m locking up today. I think the opportunity to take him with not only Tony Parker but also Ginobili out is way too good to pass up on. Whether he starts or comes off the bench does not matter. Pace up game, PG vs. Thunder… I don’t think I need to say much more here.
Devin Booker – $6,400: SG tonight is scarce. Booker is the number one option I see by a long shot. He came out of the break a little less aggressive than usually is but took 18 shots on Tuesday. I think he ends up doing something similar tonight against the very soft Lakers. Bonus: Bledsoe is questionable. Have to have him.
Dario Saric – $7,400: I think Saric still needs to be priced higher than this. Since taking over as a starter and the focal point of the 76ers offense he has been fantastic and consistent. He’s been able to reach value and score around 35 FPT’s even when limited to 27-28 min. He scored 33.60 last time out on what was an off shooting night. This is the least I expect from him. I think he’s really safe and also offers great upside if his team can stay in this one and he ends up playing ~35 minutes. Play The Homie.
Jusuf Nurkic – $6,500: I like Nurkic a lot against the 76ers. Another safe pick with a ton of upside. He should collect plenty of rebounds and dominate on offense as well. Who is going to stop him? His price is down still due to some foul trouble he’s been in, but I’m thinking he will avoid foul trouble tonight guarding Okafor and Holmes. Alan Williams is a nice play too but I’ll take Nurkic for $600 more.
LeBron James – $11,200: I know, bold move writing up The King in the “against” section of my first blog. Okay, I realize any night this guy can go off and I hate to do this while his team is losing, because he seems to always step up during times like this. And its projected to be a close game. But I’m not playing him. With so many other good options at SF, he’s going to be someone I avoid. His recent track record against Detroit (past two years) has been less than impressive. If you want a SF at the high end tonight, take Kawhi Leonard. I think he projects very similarly to LeBron and will save you $1,600 in salary. I’m a little short on time today and there are only 5 games tonight, so this will be the only popular player I’m really “against” tonight.
That’s it for today! Hope you enjoyed reading. I would love to get any thoughts/feedback in the comments sections.
