The Coach and The Small Times (CBB 2/19/2015)
Well Today the Coach is rolling Solo! It is Nicky Small Times’ Birthday and he is being swept away by his wife. However, He did manage to cash for about $250.00 last night with only spending $11. That’s the definition of Small Times grinding! He is upset that he fell just short of a seat in March Mania, Taking 3rd. Let’s not even talk about WAYNE BLACKSHEAR, I am over it. He will be in my doghouse the rest of the year. But today is a new day and new slate. In this slate we see 5 of the top ten adj(D) teams in play. That equals EWWW in fantasy circles. Also, throw in a snail race of a contest between two of the top defensive teams in the country (Utah@OSU). I will avoid that game all together. I will only really be targeting about half of this 8 game slate. So let’s begin.
Yogi Ferrell (8.2k): Revenge is on the minds of Crean and the Hoosiers, after getting stomped in West Lafayette in January. The conductor of this Revenge train is none other than Yogi. I expect Ferrell to feed off the ruckus Assembly hall crowd and make his number. Yogi lives for the spotlight and this game is the leadoff game on ESPN and is at home. I will hop abroad.
James Blackmon (7.5k): Blackmon is a little cheaper than Ferrell and provides close to the same upside. What interest’s me is his home/away splits. Blackmon is a complete animal @ home. Pair this with what should be the highest total game of the night means I could see myself rostering multiple IU players.
Robert Johnson (4.9k): Johnson starting and getting 30 minutes @ home. Im in! Only needs around 20 to hit value.
Rapheal Davis (6.8k) & Jon Octeus (6.4k): Both Boilermaker guards are in play here. I believe both are priced spot on. I don’t believe you will get much more over value if any with them priced the way they are. But you still got to give them a look for the tempo boost and Indiana’s lackluster defense.
Terran Petteway (8.7k): Let me start with the fact that I am a diehard Terps fan. I have watched 99% of their games for the last 15 years. I really don’t think we have anyone of this team that can check Petteway. I truly believe he is a matchup nightmare for us. Laymen gets pub that he is a good defender which he really isn’t. I believe Petteway will get whatever he wants tonight. However, he needs 40 ftps. to reach value. A number he has not achieved on the road to date. I’m 50/50 on him tonight.
Myles Mack (7.7k): I am a sucker for Mack. He has 50 ftps. upside. He needs to get back to being a grade A chucker. Rutgers doesn’t have anyone else besides Jack, so Mack should be chucking it up 20x a game. Not the 9 & 10 attempts he has put the last two games. He gets a tempo boost from Iowa. His price is also reasonable enough to roll the dice. If Mack hoists it up 20x and gets going tonight it could win someone some CASH!
Dez Wells (7.6k): Dez is going to be on a lot of people’s radar tonight. He has been coming on strong as of late and put this Terrapins team on his back. However, his price tag is too much. He would need 34 ftps. to make value. Nebraska is pretty good defensively and really slows it down. Also, Wells hasn’t hit that 34ftps. yet this season. Im fading Dez tonight.
- Melo Trimble(7.3k):* Melo is on my radar for one reason. He is at home where he is a complete stud and not an ordinary freshman like he is on the road. He will have the ball in his hands every possession. He needs 32ftps. for value. Unlike Dez, Melo has hit that number a few times. I can see him hitting his number tonight.
T.J McConnell (7.7k): McConnell might be my favorite play of the day. He is coming back home after a three game road trip where he began to play lights out! His price is a steal at 7.7k. On fire + @ home + vs USC = My play of the night!
Craig Sword (6.6k): I must admit, I like Sword. I always felt he needs to shot more. He had a great game last time vs. Ole Miss on the road where he shot it 13x. He also is coming back-to-back 10 shot games. Now he faces Ole Miss at home with the tempo boost, I can be lured into playing him tonight.
Kendall Stephens (4k): He really hasn’t been the same since the hand injury. I am writing about him because you want to catch him on the upswing. Tonight is a total gamble. He has upside and playing Indiana tonight could be the beginning of his comeback tour!
Again, not too many forwards stick out to me.
Troy Williams (7.6k): Same theme here; Troy @ home + High Total + revenge = play him. He needs 34 ftps to make value. He has hit that 2 of the last 3 games with the other be a 32.5 ftps effort. Roster Williams and hope he stays out of foul trouble.
Shaq Goodwin (7.5k): Shaq has been on a tear since Nichols went down. The matchup with UCONN is not ideal. But you can argue with his last three games. I am probably going to have some exposure to Goodwin.
Stanley Johnson (7.5k): Stanley burned me this weekend. I looked at what he did last time he laid a dud. What he did was return home and dominated Colorado. USC has nobody capable of defending him. AZ gets the tempo boost and is @ home. I believe I will return to the Stanley Johnson well and hope it hasn’t went dry!
Markus Kennedy (6.5k): Kennedy’s price has gone up. I am a bit hesitant on playing him. Temple has solid defensive numbers. But Kennedy dominated them in Philly, which was a homecoming or him. I just don’t think Bond and Obi can stop him. Proceed with caution on Kennedy.
Roquez Johnson (5.1k): On a night where I don’t see too many superior options at forward, Why not take a gamble with a guy getting 25-30 mins @ home. Johnson has also shown he has a pretty good upside if he gets going.
Hanner Mosquera-Perea (3.9K): Hanner is a total flyer here. He was injured the first time these teams met. But Hartman got abused and is not able to defend Hammons and Haas. I think he will need to be back on the court more tonight to offset Purdue’s Frontcourt. He is the Hoosier’s best post defender.
