The Curious Case of Todd Gurley
Super Bowl Sunday has come and gone and we have collectively learned a lot. The Patriots are a dynasty. The game itself was a dud. Julian Edelman is the fastest bearded man ever to roam the earth. Jared Goff can’t play away from home. The commercials were terrible. I am still excited about the Game of Thrones premiere in April. Maroon Five is a forgettable band with forgettable songs liked by forgettable people. Travis Scott was surprisingly good. Big Boi looks and sounds ridiculous in a fur coat. However, the one thing I did not learn last night is why Todd Gurley only touched the ball 11 times and was out of the game plan as of the second play of the game. He must be hurt, right? Everyone, including Gurley, says no. Then, CJ Anderson must be the greatest end-of-season talent that only the Rams recognized. Hahahahahahaha…. I started laughing before finishing that sentence. So, I don’t get it. It clearly was key to many DFS lineups and the game itself, so let’s see what questions we can clear up tonight to make sure to optimally attack this six game NBA slate.
To Harden or not to Harden? CPIII is back and the Rockets are likely to blow out the hapless Phoenix Suns tonight. So, it seems pretty obvious to fade Harden at $12,900 on DK. However, could he go for 50 by halftime and then tack on another 15 in the third quarter to finish close to 65 DK points? Yeah, it is possible. Besides, he’s not called “Regular Season James” for nothing. Well, I call him that, but I’ll just assume everyone else will soon adopt that moniker. The Suns are playing up in pace, CPIII is still not himself, and we call know D Man (I don’t want to spell the Rockets coach’s name) plays his starters way too many minutes. So, if I can make it work with the value out there (New Orleans, possibly Denver), I will do it. If not, hello my man Giannis.
Are the Pacers too balanced? The Pacers play without Oladipo against the fast paced Pelicans. The Pelicans have never figured out how tp play defense and I like to attack them as much as possible. So, seems like a primetime spot for the Pacers, no? Well, I don’t know. The Pacers are a solid, balanced team who do not currently have a go-to #1 guy. It could be Collison tonight. Or Turner. Or Thad. Or Sabonis off the bench. Or Bojan jacking shots. I am a single lineup guy, so will likely pass on the Pacers, but for multi-entry tourney teams, I like Myles against Okafor’s pretend defense and Bojan from the wing scoring on the Pels.
Will we get extreme Nuggets value? Gary Harris is already out tonight. J Murray is questionable, but two days ago the coach was talking about his ankle like he had been run over by a truck. In addition, Paul Millsap popped up as questionable this morning. I think the official reason was “he stinks right now”, but I could be mistaken. If we get Millsap, and Murray out as well (game is at 7pm eastern, so we will know before lock), Beasley, Monte Morris and even Plumlee (need two big men versus the Pistons) could all be in play.
Good luck in all your contests tonight.
