The Daily Tilt
Fantasy sports provides entertainment, thrills, ups and downs, frustration and of course serious tilts. Every day/week the tilts are different and I just want to share some daily thoughts on what is tilting me that day. Please share your tilts as well and I hope you enjoy the read.
The Ryder Cup is close to being over and it is only 2pm Saturday afternoon. Sure, there is a long day of golf to be played tomorrow. However, the Europeans lead 10-6 and only need 4.5 points out of 12 tomorrow to take back the Ryder Cup. And is there anyone on the U.S. team proving any inspiration for tomorrow? Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas have played well, but only Thomas plays early tomorrow. Hello Jim Furyk?! Maybe play your best players first tomorrow. I’m just saying. And perhaps the U.S. team could try to disguise Kevin Kisner or someone as Phil Mickelson, because Phil is going to get smoked by Francesco “Don’t call me Francis” Molinari in what could be the nail in the coffin match tomorrow. Also, am I the only one who is cognizant of the fact that Tiger Woods STINKS in team events? He is a narcissist at his core and that makes him good as an individual player. But, it is a huge negative as a team player. Furyk really blew it here and Tommy Fleetwood is rapidly climbing the ladder as the “next great thing”. As long as he doesn’t cut his hair and start hanging out with Tiger at Denny’s/Chili’s/Fuddruckers or whatever other childish chain restaurant Tiger likes to go to, Fleetwood will be the number one player in the world in 2019. And if he isn’t, I will be slightly tilted…. Other weekend tilts include:
1) Poor Kelly Bryant. Earlier this week, Clemson QB Kelly Bryant announced he would transfer because Trevor Lawrence was named starting QB. Well, Lawrence was knocked out of today’s game with a concussion in the second quarter. What a perfect opportunity that would have been for Bryant to step in, bring the Tigers back and potentially reclaim the starting nod. Instead, he is at home playing FIFA 19 and eating takeout wings. Wait, that actually sounds pretty good. I am kinda tilted that I’m not doing that right now.
2) The constant Leonard Fournette injury updates. Going forward, I am just going to pretend that Leonard Fournette doesn’t exist. He’s been out for 2.5 straight games, then was tagged as a potential GTD yesterday. Then last night, he tweets out how he is “happy to be back” and he’ll see everyone Sunday. Does that mean he is back on the field? Will he just be on the sideline? Will he play two series and then tweak his hamstring? Or will he see everyone up in that cabana pool section of the Jags stadium? I don’t know and it tilts me.
3) The Baker Mayfield chat in DFS this weekend. Baker Mayfield is gaining some traction in DFS given his cheap price tag, attractive matchup versus the Raiders and good game he had versus the Jets. I am not buying it. The Raiders have had time to prepare for Mayfield (the Jets didn’t), it is tough to go on the road anywhere as a rookie QB and Hue Jackson is still the coach of the Browns. Would it surprise anyone if the Browns went with a conservative game plan and Carlos Hyde was actually the star of the day? It would not surprise me and thus I will be tilted if Mayfield goes for 325 yards and 3 TDs tomorrow.
Good luck to all in your contests this weekend.
