The Run Up (Ep 30) - Round of 64, Round of 32

It’s been a while since an update so let’s see how the tournament is going for us. The first day of the tournament went poorly – Colgate showed fight for a while but ended up folding at the end, Tennessee was awful, San Diego State got shellacked, Winthrop was never really close to beating Winthrop and we lost the North Texas/Purdue under in overtime (of course). What we did get right this day was Wisconsin destroying North Carolina (I am not sure why all the talking heads were on UNC), Rutgers and WVU who were close. We did get CLV on some of the bets that we lost – Tennessee, Rutgers, WVU, SDSU so maybe they were not all that terrible. Overall, it was a pretty poor day in bets – I was fairly disappointed in the performance and was eager to move to the next day.

Scores and Odds.

Friday – Starting bankroll – $1917.5

Colgate +300, $50 to win $150, L

Rutgers -1.5, $110 to win $100, W
San Diego State -3, $106 to win $100, L
West Virginia -12.5, $110 to win $100, W

Overall March 19th – -$84

Overall: – 1833.5

We got Saturday started off right with a Colorado three point barrage, never letting Georgetown in the game and completely destroying them wire to wire. I wish I flipped the Colorado/Florida State unit sizing as FSU was extremely tilting – they did not make a three in the entire game, and despite losing the bet by only half a point, I feel like it should have been a pretty easy win. All of the other bets were winners though – ACU came through for us late, essentially pegging my reasoning on the nose, and Alabama struggled to score while holding Iona to a reasonable total and that was an easy under there.

Saturday – Starting bankroll – $1833.5

Bets –

Colorado -5, $112 to win $100, W
Florida State -10.5, $226 to win $200, L
Alabama/Iona under 147, $109 to win $100, W
Abilene Christian ML, $100 to win $340, W

Overall March 20th, +314

Overall: – 2147.5

I should have just rolled with all of the dogs on this slate – Syracuse wins outright, Rutgers should have won outright but couldn’t grab a single rebound, and Oral Roberts, Loyola, and Oregon State all continued their cinderella runs in great fashion. We still pick up two very easy wins here – it was a relatively sweat-free day in these streets and we are back in the green for the season. I have to make a decision after this next day – do we just go for profit, or do we actually try to end up making the bankroll challenge goal? This will be a relatively large day. If it goes well, I believe I will try to continue going for the bankroll challenge goal. If it goes poorly, I will focus on smart, +EV bets and just go for profit.

Catch today’s large slate here – Scores and Odds.

Sunday – Starting bankroll – $2147.5

Bets –

Syracuse +4, $108 to win $100, W
Rutgers +7.5, $226 to win $200, W

Overall March 21st, +300

Overall – $2447.5*

DISCLAIMER – My unit size may change based on current state of the bankroll challenge. It is recommended that bettors use 1-5% of their current bankroll for their unit size depending on expected ROI and experience betting. Right now I am at 5% per bet, but once we get going, I may yank it up to 10% as I am attempting to run this $2,000 up or lose it all before the end of the NCAA tournament. This is not recommended, unless you are fully prepared to lose your bankroll.
