Time to pay up...

As you probably know by now, I was shamed in DuckieSuccombs DK Tournament of Shame last Friday night. I’d like to blame the loss on my girlfriend (and her visiting parents) who were barking from the adjacent room about spending time with them while I was frantically trying to assemble a viable lineup…I’d also like to blame Josh Donaldson for not being able to muster up more than a walk against an Australian pitcher (do they even have baseball there??) with a lifetime ERA of ~ 6…let’s not forget Adrian Gonzalez, who couldn’t capitalize on the L-R matchup against Fausto Carmona, err Roberto Hernandez, who is assuredly older than Jesus himself…and, lastly, myself, for ever believing that Edwin Jackson could maintain form (20 IP, 4 ER, 23 K’s in 3 games prior) or that Tom Koehler could contain the Ryan-Braunless, righty-heavy bats of Milwaukee in the friendly confines of Marlins Park.

Venting aside, it’s time to pay the piper. I have now uploaded an auction to eBay, where you can bid on my autographed, personalized picture (with certificate of authencity!); the item description and self-deprecating, one-of-a-kind photo can be found here: Auction Site

After reading the description, you’ll understand that I felt compelled into converting this disheartening experience into something more ‘heartening.’ Thus, all proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Hopefully, you will never need to know just how good this hospital is, but I can assure you, from personal experience, that there is no better hospital in the country for children. If you don’t believe me, just see what U.S. News & World Reports have to say about CHOP: US News & World Reports Review of CHOP

I work for a major pharmaceutical company who will match every dollar that I donate with $2…so the winning big will be tripled where CHOP is concerned! Because I’m unsure if this effort will generate a single dollar, let along anything substantial, I am committing $100 of my own money to the fund—therefore, CHOP will receive $300, no matter what happens with my shameful auction…but I’m hoping that will inspire some of you to partake in this endeavor and bid accordingly, so that the RG community can make a more substantial donation to CHOP.

Lastly, if you cannot partake in the auction for whatever reason, I am willing to trade an autographed photo (see below) of me reluctantly relinquishing the $1 million check from last year’s DFFC in Vegas for your minimum $10 donation to the fund…remember every donation will be tripled prior to getting to CHOP! My PayPal address is wildgeneral@yahoo.com for anybody who might be interested.

Shamefully,
TnP

Stand up guy for taking a shameful night and turning it into a positive experience for those less fortunate. Hopefully you will be repaid by good karma shining down on you for the rest of the DFS year.
