Portland Trail Blazers 2019 Offseason and Team Outlook
2018-19 Record 53-29
2019-20 Record 57-25 Prediction
The departures on this team were really just dead weight anyway. I can see this team utilizing the playing time among all of their current players and of course giving the full green light to Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. They have brought in some expiring contracts that are going to really benefit this team moving forward, a $19.3 mil contract for Kent Bazemore and a $27.1 mil contract for Hassan Whiteside. Damian Lillard is already paid, and they just have figure a way to sign back McCollum in two years, which shouldn’t be a problem with the amount of cap space coming off, and they could possibly even add another key free agent in the process.
They have drafted well this year with Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little, filling needs, and brought in Mario Hezonja to help on the wing. They have upped Rodney Hood contract, which I think he deserved, and Zach Collins will also be a part of the team for at least another two years, and if they can resign him, he could be a core piece of the future. I’m not sure who is going to start at PF, but I would imagine just a filler such as Labissiere or Tolliver, and Collins plays the majority of the minutes off the bench. They have brought in Hassan Whiteside as insurance for Jusuf Nurkic. Portland is poised for what I think will be an improved season over last year.
I love what they have done with this team this year centered around their main two. Portland is my surprise team of the West. They will be in the thick of it when it is all over with the Rockets, Lakers, and Clippers, Warriors, Jazz, and Thunder.
