Who to ride/Who to hide CBB 1/27/15

Good morning/afternoon fellow grinders. Have had some more time recently to devote to doing my research and thought I would get back into providing you guys some thoughts on today’s plays. Providing you with who I am looking to roster and who I am definitely looking to avoid.

So without further ado, here goes nothing!

Ride:

Michael Qualls: He may have single handedly ruined my chances in the Storm the Court series over the weekend but I am definitely going back to the well today. Most athletic player on the court and should see about 15+ shots with 5 or so of those coming from 3 point range. I am looking at a 35-40 point fantasy performance tonight in a game with an o/u at 142 as of now.

Juwan Staten: After a couple of down performances, he really bounced back. He is about the only one I got right in my lineups on Saturday but he wasn’t enough to make up for some of my fails. Big double double the last time out, I do not necessarily expect that however I do expect him to be a little more active on the boards to make up for a handful less assists.

Jalen Jones/Danuel House: I may have a crush on these two but I will continue to roster them any chance I get at their price points. House is super consistent in the upper 20s fantasy point wise and has shown 40 point upside. Jones, also very consistent, is still rounding into shape and I think his best games are still yet to come, if you can believe that. I look to see a good 18-10 type game from him tonight.

Patricio Garino: Who? Yeah, I will admit that I did not know much about GW prior to this morning but the more I research, the more I really feel like Garino should be a top option this evening. Of course the VCU-GW game is on DK only, but at $6500 I am hopefully for something between 5 and 5.5x tonight as GW gets the tempo boost.

Melvin Johnson: I debated between Johnson and Weber of VCU but with the game not being available on FD, that leaves me going with Johnson as Weber gains a lot of value from defensive statistics. The up-tempo VCU team puts points on the board and I think Johnson gets his share tonight and at $5900, he doesn’t have to get you 30.

Bobby Portis: This guy just finds a way to double double when he gets on the court. Some games its an ugly path to get there but at the end of the game, you look up and theres 30-40 fantasy points. I know he isn’t cheap but do not over think this one, plug and play.

Michael Young/Jamel Artis: Pitt should find some pretty easy baskets in this game vs VaTech. Young has the double double upside and is pretty consisten. Artis has been playing extremely well of late and at 6600 on DK and 5600 on FD, should be highly owned tonight. And for that reason, I am using Young a little bit as a contrarian play from this game.

Nino Williams: I was kicking myself early on Saturday for not having more exposure to Williams and I tweeted to Varncass with my frustration and he helped ease my pain by mentioning he had very little Williams as well. His DK price has jumped 1900 over the last 10 days but I still feel like $6600 is too cheap. Hes even cheaper on FD @ $6300.

Trevon Bluitt: Chasing points? I guess you could look at it that way as he exploded for 31 DK points in his last game after having 42 combined over the previous 3 games. But he has shown glimpses of a solid game all season with 3 31+ point games over his last 10.

Hide:

Shavon Shields: This game is being pegged as the lowest scoring game of the night and when you are a teammate of Petteway, you never know when you will get to shoot. At $8300 on DK and $8100 on FD I am finding it very easy to skip right over him and pay $500 less for Michael Qualls.

JJ Frazier: Do not chase the points here. I know his game logs prior to that were pretty solid but I think its one of those classic let down spots and could see his $7400 Salary on DK getting you an 18-20 point game. Now on FD @ $5600 I do not mind him all that much.

KT Harrell: So dependent on putting up game points. Youll see his game logs on DK recently as 29, 26 and 26 but realize he had to score 24, 22 and 22 game points in those contests. I am just not a big fan of this AUB/A&M game in general. Now I know above I said Jones and House but thats because they do other things on the court and get you some additional points even if they aren’t putting up 20-30 real game points.

Derrick Walton JR: Normally a big fan of Walton JR but that o/u is just so ugly. I know somebody has to step in for LaVert and I do think Walton is showing he is capable but against WIS, he was having a sub-par to mediocre game until late when WIS was letting him get open.

Rico Gathers: Has the ability to put up big double doubles but I just do not like the inconsistency. Not a very rangy rebounder and the OKST team are more jump shooters than get to the rack players. If you feel the need to go with somebody from Baylor, then look at Taurean Prince.

Joshua Smith: The guy continues to surprise me with some of his game logs but theres somebody from GU that I am targeting a lot more and feel like XAV has a couple guys that can limit Smith somewhat.

I will throw out a handful of guys that I think are pretty solid value plays that I did not include above:

Isaac Copeland, Ahmed Hill, Robert Hubbs III, Derek Reese, Alandise Harris, Jalen Reynolds, Max Bielfeldt, D’Andre Wright (FD Only).

Best of Luck tonight everybody and please like and comment below. Any questions I will certainly try to get to!
