Robbie Ray is on the FD Main Slate with the better matchup than Kershaw and the safer pitch count in the much better ballpark. But 45% of lineups are gonna have Ray, so we’re put to the test here.

Quick Breakdown: Not an excellent striekout pitcher any, but still very good across the board, the A’s are total trash, and this ballpark is great for keeping homers in it.

Excellent spot for the underrated Frankie Montas. The question on FD is whether we pivot to Kershaw or Montas off of Ray or just play 75% Ray. I’d rather be even with the field on a very good Ray play and split the remaining shares among Kershaw, Montas, and a bit of Alex Wood. Not a great spot for Montas, but it’s good in this ballpark and no one like to play him.

Quick Breakdown: Great ownership play.

Montas has ace-level stuff. I’m not messing with him. The slate is small enough to one-off the Jesse Winker discount, but that’s it.

Another way to always combat Ray chalk is to secondary stack against him with power. Ramon Laureano, Sean Murphy, Christian Bethancourt, and Chad Pinder can be made into some strong three-man stacks. The A’s suck, but they have power.
