Montreal heads to South Florida tonight to continue their brutal six-game road trip. With that said, they’re arguably playing their best hockey of the season and have posted a 7-3-0 record over their last ten games. Offensively, it’s a two-headed attack for the Canadiens as both of their top two forward lines have proven to be very dangerous. Max Domi leads the team with 35 points in 37 games and headlines the top line as he centers Jonathan Drouin and Paul Byron. These three will likely see plenty of Evgenii Dadonov’s pestering defense, but it’s not enough to downgrade them significantly on a three game slate. Drouin and Domi are obviously the preferred options here, but Byron has quietly posted 20+ goals in back-to-back seasons and should benefit from playing alongside two talented linemates. Behind them, Phillip Danault will center Tomas Tatar and Brendan Gallagher on the second forward line. While they’re not quite as consistent of scorers as their top line counterparts, these three have more than enough offensive firepower to erupt for multiple goals this evening. In fact, Brendan Gallagher’s 23.49 iCF60 is second in the entire NHL behind only Alex Ovechkin, proving just how offensively aggressive the 26-year old. On defense, Shea Weber and Jeff Petry should be on your radar as these two share the duties on the point of Montreal’s top power-play unit where they’ll be eager to attack Florida’s subpar 77.8% penalty kill. Weber is known for his cannon slap shot and has not been shy about unleashing it, racking up 41 SOG in just 13 games since returning to action. There was concern that Weber’s return would end Petry’s run as a quality DFS option, but that has not been the case as he actually leads the team with ten points in 12 games during the month of December.
