NHL Grind Down: Friday, January 4th
The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.
The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

In a dog-fight for the top spot in the Central Division with the Nashville Predators, the Winnipeg Jets picked up two big points in Edmonton and will now head to Pittsburgh to face a surging Penguins team. The most recent development from Winnipeg is the loss of Dustin Byfuglien for the forseeable future. However, this team has plenty of blue-line depth with Josh Morrisey, Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers also soaking up huge minutes in his absence. There are some rumblings that Joe Morrow will get some work as the point-man of the top power-play unit, but I’m not convinced as that job fell to Morrisey in their last game and he’s been solid. Up-front, it’s still a two-headed monster for the Jets as both of their top two scoring lines are extremely dangerous. Blake Wheeler and Mark Schiefele have combined for 99 points this season and team up on the top line alongside Nikolaj Ehlers. This leaves sniper Patrik Laine to skate alongside Kyle Connor and Bryan Little on the second line. Pittsburgh has been playing very well lately, but they’ve surrendered 3.30 goals against per game on their home ice this season, so there’s plenty of merit in targeting Winnipeg in GPP’s this evening.
