NHL Grind Down: Monday, December 3rd

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

The Lightning continue their quest to be the best team in the NHL this evening with a stop in Newark, New Jersey to take on the last place Devils. Tampa’s 39 points is the best in the league Toronto, Buffalo and Nashville right on their heels. Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson have been lighting the lamp with regularity of late as they have combined for 18 goals and 23 assists over the last nine games. Kucherov leads the way with 27 assists and 36 points while 10 of his last 20 points have come while skating on the top power play unit. Steven Stamkos has still managed eight points in the last nine games despite skating with a plethora of different wingers even since the top line has been assembled. Mathieu Joseph and Yanni Gourde have been the latest contestants of the ‘Find Stamkos a few Compatible Wingers’ sweepstakes. Stamkos and Gourde have each eclipsed the 20 point plateau so looking here as a contrarian play on a short slate may be the way to go this evening. Victor Hedman has racked up 13 points in the 20 games he has played in while fellow defenseman Ryan McDonagh has grabbed 18 points in 27 games. The Tampa power play has connected for 12 goals in their last nine games so give Hedman the check mark here as he quarterbacks the team’s top power play unit.
