NHL Grind Down: Monday, January 7th

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Remember, these writeups are done prior to lineups being released, so make sure to check our Starting Lineups page to ensure the recommended options are playing.

Just when you thought that the Predators couldn’t survive with Filip Forsberg in the line-up they go out and grab seven points in the last four games. Forsberg has started skating so his return could be just days away. In the meantime Viktor Arvidsson and Ryan Johansen have seen their share of wingers on the top line over the past few weeks. Calle Jarnkrok is the latest contestant on the top line while Colton Sissons, Kevin Fiala and Craig Smith skate on the team’s second line. Johansen has the hot hand as he has collected 10 of his team leading 36 points over the last 10 games while Smith surprisingly leads the team with 14 goals so far this season. Forsberg skated again today and although he did not skate on the top line he said he is ready to go so it’s up to the coaches tonight as to whether he plays or not. Defensemen Roman Josi has Mattias Ekholm have been the most productive blue liners for Nashville as Josi’s 30 points leads his defensive counterpart by two points. P.K. Subban has managed to find the score sheet in 15 of the 24 games he has suited up for so taking a look at him this evening is not out of the question either.
