NHL Grind Down: Saturday, February 2nd

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Remember, these writeups are done prior to lineups being released, so make sure to check our Starting Lineups page to ensure the recommended options are playing.

Although the Oilers are just three points away from the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, they still have a long way to go in jumping over six other teams to get there. If you are looking for value this is not the place this afternoon as head coach Ken Hitchcock has switched up his lines dramatically and has added that if the team doesn’t start well he will bring out the blender early. In an unprecedented move the Oilers find their top three scorers all centering different lines. Connor McDavid will center the recently waived but unclaimed Ty Rattie and Milan Lucic while Leon Draisaitl will skate in between Tobias Rieder and Alex Chiasson. McDavid is obvioulsy the stud here as he leads the team with 29 goals and 44 assists while Draisaitl’s 61 points is second on the team. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is the third and final player that has at least 46 points on his resume as he will now drop down to the third line to skate with Zack Kassian and Jujhar Khaira. It looks like defenseman Oscar Klefbom may return to the line-up which could mean that Darnell Nurse and his 24 points may see a little less time when the team has the extra attacker.
