NHL Grind Down: Saturday, January 12th

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Remember, these writeups are done prior to lineups being released, so make sure to check our Starting Lineups page to ensure the recommended options are playing.

After not winning in any of their last eight games the Flyers came up with a 2-1 against the Dallas Stars in front of the home fans. Claude Giroux, James van Riemsdyk and Travis Konecny stayed together as the team’s first line for most of the night as that line collected both goals in the win. Sean Couturier centers Oskar Lindblom and Jakub Voracek on the team’s second line while Wayne Simmonds and Nolan Patrick have Scott Laughton as their running partner on the third line. Some may say that Philadelphia either is trying to spread it too thin but the reality is that they do not stick with the same lines for very long to let them develop the chemistry to score in this league. Voracek leads the team with 9 points over the last 11 games while Giroux leads the team with 34 assists and 48 points. Defensively there is not much here as Travis Sanheim leads all blue liners with just three points over the last three weeks while Shayne Gostisbehere and his 17 points is tops on the team.
