NHL Grind Down: Saturday, January 5th

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

On paper this looks too easy as the top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm and Sean Monahan have accumulated more points than any five Flyers players put together. That is one of the major reason why Calgary is atop the Pacific Division and the Philadelphia club is one of the worst in the league. Gaudreau leads the team with 23 goals and 38 assists while Monahan trails the etam leader with 51 points of his own. Matthew Tkachuk makes for a decent one-off here as he has grabbed 18 goals and 29 assists while skating on the second line with Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik. Tkachuk and Gaudreau lead the team with 18 power play points which has seen the Flames score seven goals with the extra attacker over the last 10 games. Meanwhile the Flyers have given up six power play goals over the last three weeks. Defenseman Mark Giordano is the play from the back line as he has lit the lamp six times to go along with 33 assists so far this season. Noah Hanifin has been finding the score sheet as well as he has grabbed five of his 21 points over the last six games.
