NHL Grind Down: Sunday, January 6th

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Remember, these writeups are done prior to lineups being released, so make sure to check our Starting Lineups page to ensure the recommended options are playing.

The Hurricanes are always at the top of the league in CF% which actually tricks some DFS players into thinking that they are a good play. Up until this point only Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen are the only players who have shown type of consistency as they lead the team with 43 and 32 points respectively. They are also the safest duo to play as they skate together on the top line with Brock McGinn. Meanwhile Carolina continues to think that they can put three separate scoring lines together as Justin Williams, Jordan Martinook and Lucas Wallmark skate on the second line. Williams is third on the team with 22 points which barely makes him a one-off let alone trying something foolish and using his other linemates in your contests this afternoon. Victor Rask, Andrei Svechnikov and Michael Ferland make up the team’s third line with the latter two grabbing 19 points apiece so far this season. Defensively speaking Jaccob Slavin, Justin Faulk and Dougie Hamilton are separated by just one point with Slavin’s 14 points being the best this team has from the blue line.
