NHL Grind Down: Thursday, November 1st
The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.
The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Winnipeg Jets at Florida Panthers

The Winnipeg Jets take on the Florida Panthers in this lone afternoon game of the day. For those of you itching for NHL action, there is a showdown slate for this game, and because of the fact that there will be a showdown slate, I will be a little bit more liberal and open minded with my selections for this game.
This game projects to be a high scoring, back and forth affair with Winnipeg being the slight favourites. By rule, I tend to avoid picking goalies in showdown, unless I feel that a game is so lopsided that a win is at least a 70 percent guarantee.
In this slate if I had to pick a goalie, I would pick Connor Hellebuyck, but with all the talent on both team’s sides, this is not something I am vouching for.
Starting on Florida’s end, the Panthers have loaded up their top six. Early in the season, Mike Hoffman was playing on the third line, but he has since been promoted to play in the top six.
Both lines for Florida are fully in play, as Barkov, Dadonov and Bjugstad are awfully cheap.
Dadonov and Bjugstad especially stand out at their prices, and are a great way to get exposure to Florida if you want to splurge more on the Winnipeg side of things.
A lot of people like to use 5 on 5 stats, and this is absolutely how you should evaluate players for real life scales. For DFS, powerplays are everything so it is important to factor those situations in and to make sure that the guys you are targeting play on the powerplay.
In all situations for Florida, Keith Yandle leads the team in shot attempts, while Trocheck and Hoffman are right behind him. There is a logjam after that with Barkov, Huberdeau and Dadonov right behind those guys.
Shot attempts are important as we want the guys who are prone to shooting the puck. Shots are way more valuable than blocks in the showdown setting.
Everyone on Florida’s top six is in play, and I also like Ekblad’s price if you want a punt to fit in five stars seamlessly.
On Winnipeg’s end, I love the idea of playing Nikolaj Ehlers. He is simply too cheap for the role that he is in on that top line. Since being promoted there he has one goal and 10 shots in three games, including a breakaway where he was robbed against the Leafs.
