NHL Grind Down: Thursday, October 11th

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Matchup Overview – If you’re a fan of strategic hockey, you won’t want to miss this game. Widely regarded as the best hockey player on the planet, Connor McDavid is set to go toe-to-toe with perhaps the best defensive forward lines in Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak. Boston was also the second best team in the NHL last night by puck possession standards (53.8 CF%). McDavid did manage to pick up a pair of assists in two meetings against the Bruins last year, but this is clearly not an ideal spot to pay up for him or his linemates in cash games.

The other big storyline here is Milan Lucic’s return to Boston. He spent his first eight seasons in Beantown, and while he’s clearly on the down-swing of what has been a solid career, he should benefit from playing alongside someone as talented as Leon Draisaitl on the second line and is also still utilized down low the Oiler’ power-play.
