NHL Grind Down: Tuesday, March 12th

The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Remember, these writeups are done prior to lineups being released, so make sure to check our Starting Lineups page to ensure the recommended options are playing.

Team Summaries

Dallas

The Stars are in a good spot against a banged up Sabres team. Radulov and Seguin are fairly priced and both shoot the puck a lot which raises their floor. Roope Hintz is a decent play on the top line, but his second powerplay role greatly diminishes his value. With the Sabres sporting an AHL-caliber team, the matchup is great and I expect the high shot floor to not be something you will be falling back on. I expect some goals here.

Buffalo

With injuries in any DFS sport comes value. While in the NHL often times injuries just make your team worse, I actually don’t mind a few of the Sabres here on home ice. Casey Mittelstadt is a young player who has greatly disappointed, but in games with Eichel out, his minutes creep into the high teens and he sees a big powerplay role. Jason Pominville and Jeff Skinner will skate alongside him on the top line, and while I have zero interest in paying that kind of price for Skinner when his linemates are half the price and Eichel is out, I actually like Pominville at a bargain price here.
