Setting Goals & Lineups: Tournaments

In the cash game lesson, I talked about the importance of maximizing your lineup’s floor. The reasoning is so that we can finish in the top half of our leagues as often as possible. However, our goals need to match the type of league that we are in. Finishing in the top half of a tournament is not going to do you any good, unless of course you finish near the top. The top-heavy payout structure should make us change our line of thinking. Rather than maximizing our team’s floor, we should try to maximize our team’s ceiling, or upside.
