This line should dominate from puck drop
Patrice Bergereon, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak posted six combined points the other night, and I expect more of the same tonight. Buffalo has been struggling and their superstar center Jack Eichel will miss tonight’s game due to injury. This trio may be a bit chalky, but with their elite upside, this is a stack I will not be fading tonight. Stacking all three of these guys is difficult, but being creative with your builds can give you an edge in tournaments. Using two of the three forwards along with power-play quarterback defenseman Torey Krug is another stacking option.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Vancouver Canucks tonight, who will be without their talented rookie Elias Pettersson. While the Toronto’s top line is in play, I will be getting plenty of exposure to Toronto’s second line of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Andreas Johnsson. Nylander finally got the monkey off his back and scored his first goal last game out. Nylander’s has posted an impressive 74.23 CF/60 and 15.09 HDCF at even strength in his 12 games played this year. Keep in mind many of those games he was skating on the third and fourth line without Auston Matthews. This line has the potential to post a multi goal game at reasonable ownership. I prefer to use defenseman Jake Gardiner as an addition to this stack, as he correlates the most at even strength and on the second power-play unit with this line.

Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Evgenni Dadonov will host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. This trio correlates fully on the team’s top power-play unit along with defenseman Keith Yandle. It’s unknown who will be in net for Columbus as Bobrovsky was pulled after allowing three goals last night. While Korpisalo didn’t allow a goal last night in relief, his .888 save percentage is definitely something to target if he does get the starting nod.

William Nylander stands out as a great way to save some money at forward tonight now that he’s back on a line with superstar Auston Matthews. Nylander is only logging 14-15 minutes, but he shouldn’t need much time to produce as the Toronto Maple Leafs check in with the largest implied goal total of the evening. Last time out, Nylander picked up his first goal of the season, and this could be the start of much more. The Canucks have been a tough nut to crack lately, but Nylander as well as linemates Auston Matthews and Andreas Johnsson are an affordable line stack.
Backup goaltender with big upside despite tough spot
For whatever reason, Nashville has been mediocre at best defensively on the road, and the spot tonight is not the greatest after getting burned by Detroit for four goals last night, but Saros is a quality goaltender and his price across the industry is attractive, especially on DraftKings ($7,400) where pricing is generally tighter. In Saros’ last start, he made 32 saves in a 4-0 route of the Philadelphia Flyers. In his start before that, Juuse made 33 saves on 34 shots in a win over the New Jersey Devils. Montreal as a team is averaging the third-most shots on goal per game but their scoring is middle of the pack. Saros should see a fair number of shots tonight in what amounts to a coin flip game. Roll out Juuse in tournaments.
Boston is finally getting some secondary scoring
Jake DeBrusk torched the Flames last time out, scoring two goals on six shots. Since returning from a three week absence, DeBrusk has come alive with 18 shots on goal in just four games. Boston’s top line is the one to target here, but DeBrusk makes for a nice complimentary piece, especially while skating on the team’s top power play unit. DeBrusk’s nice stretch here is no fluke as last season he logged 43 points in 70 games as a rookie. Jake checks it at under $5,000 on DraftKings and FanDuel.
Late Night Hammers Will Do Some Work
Check the recent game logs on both Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson and you will realize why they are both priced in the top four on both FanDuel and DraftKings this evening. Burns and his 13 points over the last nine games leads all NHL defenseman in scoring over the last three weeks while Karlsson’s 12 points is right behind him despite missing two games along the way. I’m not saying that the Sharks can beat the best team in the league but their 12-4-4 record on home ice would surely indicate that they will be in the game. Burns leads the team with 37 assists and 44 points while Karlsson has just recently come up to the standard that he is used to playing at.

The Islanders like they are starting to buy into the system that Barry Trotz has laid out for them as evidence of the team going 8-2 in their last 10 games. Mathew Barzal has been big part of this as he has snagged nine goals and four assists over the last nine games. Josh Bailey and Anthony Beauvillier skate with him on the 5×5 situations but Barzal has also tallied 14 of his 38 points while the team has had the extra attacker. This is important because the Blues just happen to lead the league with 11 power play goals given up over the last three weeks. This equates to a 60% penalty kill average for the Blues so taking a look at the Islanders power play unit is definitely worth a look this evening.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Zach Hyman, Kasperi Kapanen or Connor Brown that skate on the top line the fact remains that the chemistry that John Tavares and Mitchell Marner have is almost unstoppable. 16 goals and 11 assists is what this deadly has recorded over the last eight games and there’s no reason to think that they won’t add to that total this evening at home against the Vancouver Canucks. Toronto’s 147 goals that they have scored is ranked third in the league which has Tavares leading the team with 26 of them while Marner’s 40 assists and 55 points are tops on the team. This is Vancouver’s third road game in four days so, on paper, you can’t get any better than this.

The Bruins will be looking for a little payback this evening as the last time that the Sabres visited TD Garden they came away with as 4-2 victory thanks to two goals and two assists by Jack Eichel. Since that game the Bruins have gone 6-2 but more importantly have grabbed 11 power play goals in 30 opportunities in those eight games. If you think that the injury to Patrice Bergeron wasn’t a big deal you’d be mistaken as he has been lit the lamp four times to go along with five assists since his return six games ago. 15 of his 35 points have come with the man advantage while skating with his line mates in David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand so taking a look at Bergeron may pay off big time this evening.

The Nashville Predators have dealt with a bunch of injuries this season, with Viktor Arvidsson being limited to just 17 games, Filip Forsberg 26 games, Kyle Turris 30 and P.K. Subban only suiting up for 22 games. Forsberg and Turris are still out, but Arvidsson is back and playing on the top line with Ryan Johansen and Ryan Hartman. Arvidsson leads the team with a 1.00 points per game average, with 17 points in 17 games including 11 goals which is actually tied for second on the team. The Preds visit Detroit to take on the Red Wings, a team with just a 47.25 CF% over the last three weeks and not getting blown out every game because of the play of Jimmy Howard. Despite their injuries, the Predators have still managed to score 13 goals over their last 3 games and look to continue that recent scoring surge tonight.

Although they have mostly been assists, Sidney Crosby has 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in his last 10 games along with 26 shots on goal. He’s been playing with recently extended Jake Guentzel as well as Bryan Rust. The trio have been playing on the top line at even strength, although neither winger join Crosby on the top power play unit. That hurts their upside a bit, but they have been so good at even strength that they are still worth a stack against the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets have struggled recently, allowing 61.28 CA/60 over the last 3 weeks as well as a below average 49.0 percent CF%.

Despite the criticism of Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, I’m sure many would have expected one of them to be the best offensive player on the Dallas Stars. However, it is Alexander Radulov that leads the team in points per game with 34 points in 31 games — good for a 1.10 points per game average. Benn is out tonight, so Radulov and Seguin will be joined by Valeri Nichushkin on the top line as they host the Washington Capitals. The Caps are on the tail-end of a back to back as they lost to the St. Louis Blues last night. The Stars will get a tired Caps team allowing 62.94 CA/60 over the last three weeks, playing in front of Pheonix Copley, who hasn’t been great.

Dominik Simon scored a goal and dished out a helper last night in last night’s 7-2 demolition of the New York Rangers. Simon has 11 shots on goal over his last four games and in what should be a high-event game, there is an opportunity for him to produce again. The Penguins have won seven straight scoring 32 goals in the process. While Simon does not skate on either of the power play units, he is skating alongside a surging Patric Hornqvist and Evgeni Malkin who seems to have found his game again. Simon is a cheap way to gain some exposure to the home team.
Value Winger Seeing Increased Responsibilities
The injury to Taylor Hall has led to more ice time and responsibilities for Jesper Bratt. Prior to the injury, Bratt was playing 12-14 minutes per night, but he’s been bumped to 14-16 lately and has been on the number one line with Kyle Palmieri and Nico Hischier. While he doesn’t see time on the number one power play, he does on the second unit. In his last game, he wasn’t shy about putting the puck on net with 5 shots on goal. He should continue to shoot the puck in Hall’s absence and makes a great value play.
