Chris Carson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

SEA RB Chris Carson (neck) will not practice Wednesday

Chris Carson will not practice Wednesday ahead of the Seahawks matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Carson is still dealing with a neck injury and seems to be trending in the wrong direction for this week and possibly the rest of the season. With Carson likely out again this weekend, Alex Collins would be the lead back with Rashaad Penny and Travis Homer available to back him up. Though Penny didn't play much of a role last week HC Pete Carroll said that this is the time of year that they need to try to get him going so expect more snaps this week. Alex Collins is still the back to roster in this backfield however and he should offer some value with Carson likely still unavailable.

SEA RB Chris Carson will not play Sunday according to HC Pete Carroll

Chris Carson will not play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers according to HC Pete Carroll. With Carson out, Alex Collins will continue to lead the backfield this weekend with Travis Homer, Rashaad Penny, and DeeJay Dallas available to back him up. Collins would be a decent play under normal circumstances but with the amount of value running backs available this week on other teams, Collins should only be considered as a contrarian option in large field GPPs.

SEA QB Russell Wilson full participant in practice Wednesday; RB Chris Carson and WR Dee Eskridge return to practice, status still in question for Sunday

Russell Wilson will be a full participant in practice Wednesday and is expected to start Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, while Chris Carson and Dee Eskridge returned to practice their status is still in question for this weekend. Carson would likely slot back into his role as the primary back for the Seahawks with Alex Collins and Rashaad Penny available to back him up. If Carson were to miss Collins would be the lead back with Penny and Travis Homer available to back him up. Dee Eskridge could see his first game action since Week 1 where he suffered a concussion but at this time is not expected to see enough snaps to be DFS relevant.

SEA RB Chris Carson and QB Russell Wilson ruled out for Sunday

Chris Carson and Russell Wilson have been ruled out for Sunday when the Seahawks are set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Chris Carson is still dealing with the neck injury that caused him to miss last week's game and will once again be out this Sunday. In his absence Alex Collins handled the bulk of the running back snaps with both DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer working in to relieve him. Collins becomes a good value option at running back. As expected, Russell Wilson has been ruled out paving the way for Geno Smith to start for the Seahawks. Smith looked alright in relief of Wilson last week and will have to be considered as an option on the Sunday night showdown slate.

SEA RB Chris Carson ruled out Thursday

Carson was officially ruled out due to his neck injury and will miss the game against the LA Rams. Carson couldn't be cleared, and it'll now be up to the backups in a difficult matchup against the Rams defense. Alex Collins will likely lead the way, as the primary backup and a back who will likely run the rock on first and second downs. Travis Homer has been cast as a receiving back for the team, and will handle the pass down snaps most likely for the team. Deejay Dallas will mix in as the third back, but is more of a dart throw than the first two. Collins and Homer do have reduced salaries across the industry, and are certainly viable in showdown.

SEA TE Gerald Everett and WR D'Wayne Eskridge ruled out Thursday; RB Chris Carson remains a game-time decision; WR Phillip Dorsett elevated from practice squad

The Seahawks are shuffling things around ahead of the TNF matchup against the LA Rams. Everett was unable to get a second negative COVID test; therefore, he won't be activated off the COVID-19 list, and will miss the game against the Rams. Menawhile, Eskridge has been dealing with a concussion since week one, and ultimately the Seahawks decided to place him on injured reserve. In his place, Dorsett was elevated from the practice squad and is expected to be active tonight. He'll likely be the WR4, behind Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf definitely ahead, and likely Freddie Swain as well. As for Carson, he remains a game-time decision; he's been dealing with a neck, and every source and beat reporter has said that it's truly a 50-50 call. It'll be Alex Collins filling if he sits, as well as Travis Homer on passing downs.

SEA RB Chris Carson (neck) listed questionable for Thursday; WR D'Wayne Eskridge (concussion) listed out

Chris Carson has officially been listed as questionable for Thursday while WR D'Wayne Eskridge has been listed as out. Carson is dealing with a neck injury and will be a game-time decision. If he is unable to go Alex Collins would step into the feature back role with Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas available to back him up. Collins would immediately become a top value play on the showdown slate. Eskridge will miss his 4th straight game while in concussion protocol meaning Freddie Swain will step into the WR3 role. Seattle's top two receivers (D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett) soak up almost all of the targets but it is possible for Swain to offer some value if he is able to haul in a few targets.

Chris Carson 2021 Fantasy Outlook

Per RotoGrinders NFL player projections, Chris Carson is expected to be the fantasy RB15. He's being drafted on Underdog Fantasy as RB17 at pick 37, compared to his RotoGrinders ranking of 26 as of July. We currently expect 887 yards rushing during the first 17 weeks (Rank 20) with a 56% share of team carries. We also expect a 12% target share which amounts to a projection of 71 targets (Rank 12) and 410 receiving yards (Rank 15).

Carson's rushing efficiency suffered in 2020. After averaging 82 yards per game on the ground in both 2018 and 2019, he only racked up 56.8 yards per game in 2020. He was able to make up for that a little bit though with increased volume in the passing game. Last season, he racked up 37 receptions (on 46 targets), 287 yards, and 4 TD's in just 12 games, which is essentially what he did in 2019 but in 15 games (just 2 TD's though). The 12% target share he amassed last season is precisely what we are projecting for this season, and the 56% share of team carries represents a slight increase (54.1% in 2020). The end result is a guy who projects to be RB15 and someone who is going a little later in drafts than he should be.

Carlos Hyde ruled out for Sunday

Carlos Hyde has been ruled out for Sunday and Alex Collins has been promoted to the active roster. Collins and Rashaad Penny will work behind lead back Chris Carson.

Travis Homer inactive; Carlos Hyde active Sunday

As expected from earlier reports, Travis Homer is inactive while Carlos Hyde is active Sunday. Chris Carson will work as the top back, and DeeJay Dallas will be left with the limited RB3 work behind Hyde.
