Announcing the DraftKings VIP Store

“The Cup Runneth Over”

With four simple words, DraftKings’ Ethan left us all wondering what could be in store. It started with a video, as he teased us with all sorts of cryptic lingo that only the sleuthiest of sleuths were able to decipher and interpret the true meaning.

But, here we are: the announcement of the DraftKings VIP Store! With this announcement, DraftKings adds one more offering to their users that they had been asking for. You no longer have to be an attendee at a live final or be one of the lucky few to get a piece of DK merchandise. With the new DraftKings store, anybody can use PayPal or FPP to purchase any of the myriad of options that DraftKings has offered to customers.

The Store

The store is broken down into four different sections: VIP Experiences, Contest Tickets, Apparel, and Merchandise. The majority of the items can be purchased for FPP or via PayPal.

VIP Experiences

Here is where you can trade in your DK FPP in for something that even money can’t always buy. Experiences that can help you take your DFS game and your poker game to the next level. There are also VIP trips to Wrestlemania and the Kentucky Derby. I’m certain as the VIP store matures there will be more exciting additions. One of the items currently on sale at the store is Poker Lessons priced at 1.1 million FPP (that equates to $2,000). The “Poker Lesson” experience with Vanessa Selbst is a once in a life time opportunity to learn from the master, the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Champion ($1.4M first prize), and three-time WSOP bracelet winner, with lifetime tournament earnings of $10M+. This item is only available to purchase with FPP and thus is going to be in limited supply.

Contest Tickets

This is the same as it used to be, as you can use your FPP to purchase tickets to be used to enter contests in the DraftKings lobby. Tickets can be purchased for values ranging from $0.25 up to $5,300. With the exception of the $0.25 ticket, all tickets are worth the same amount of FPP: 550 FPP translates to $1, 5500 translates to $10, and so on.

Apparel

Ever wondered where you can get one of those sweet DK shirts you see the hosts on DKTV wearing? Well, now you can get your own through the VIP store. The shirts available can be purchased for FPP or by using PayPal. There are some items that can be bought with FPP only, but those that are available “for cash” do not depend on your FPP balance.

Of course, this wouldn’t be a RotoGrinders analysis without a DFS FPP-per-dollar spin to it, so here it is, your best value in the Apparel store:

- Golf Shirt – 12800 FPP, $29 – (441.37 FPP/$)

- Gym Shirt – 10700 FPP, $24 – (445.83 FPP/$)

- Flexifit Hat – 9900 FPP, $22 – (450 FPP/$)

Merchandise

This section is all the “miscellaneous” items, ranging from golf balls, foam footballs, strategy books, playing cards, even some of the famous DK hot sauce. So, what about the value you can get here? Let’s take a look:

- Zippo Lighter – 12800 FPP, $29 – (441.37 FPP/$)

- Golf Towel – 8900 FPP, $20 – (445 FPP/$)

- Golf Balls – 10000 FPP, $22 – (454.54 FPP/$)

And while the hot sauce may have come in last on the list, sometimes you have to pay up for the James Hardens and Stephen Currys of the world, even if they don’t reach value. The opportunity cost is too high if you choose to skip out on the DK hot sauce.
