prezvxk recently swapped places with lovesbases, going from 2nd to 3rd. I’ve already posted lovesbases’ lineup, so let’s look at who prezvxk has left, as he’s just 9 points from 1st place. Gary Sanchez and Nelson Cruz will both get another at-bat. It’s the top of the 8th in Seattle, Cruz is due up 2nd in the bottom half of the inning.

Robbie Ray is throwing a gem for the Diamondbacks, totaling 13 strikeouts over 7 innings pitched. His night is finished, but he’s currently in line for the win. Ray is the highest-owned pitcher, and is on the rosters of the top 4 teams. The Red Sox and Tigers are in a rain delay and the Yankees-Angels game just entered the 5th inning. Still a lot of innings remaining, but the top 2 squads have surpassed the 200-point mark!

9:20 pm Nashville time – Single Entry Series update

sysear has a pretty comfortable lead in the Single Entry Series contest right now. His nearest competitor sits at 80 points. All four contestants still have at least 30 innings remaining.

8:15 pm Nashville time – scoreboard update

All 3 of rayofhope’s entries are in the top 10. It’s the 6th or 7th inning in most of the early games, and Brandon Finnegan is throwing a no-hitter! The Astros, Royals, and Nationals have each scored nine runs and the Reds have eight so far. The last game on the slate, Yankees at Angels, starts in 20 minutes.

8:05 pm Nashville time – highest-owned hitters

Here are the eight most-popular hitters on the slate. Notice that there are zero Rockies or Cubs on the list, although Kris Bryant was next in line, at 22.7%.

Tim Anderson – 34.7%
Robinson Cano – 33.3%
Gary Sanchez – 32%
Kyle Seager – 32%
Rickie Weeks, Jr. – 30.7%
Didi Gregorius – 30.7%
Paul Goldschmidt 25.3%
Yasmany Tomas – 24%

7:45 pm Nashville time – pitcher ownership

With 26 starting pitchers to choose from, the 75 finalists stuck to these eight:

Robbie Ray – 30.7%
Max Scherzer – 22.7%
Felix Hernandez – 14.7%
Luke Weaver – 12%
Ian Kennedy – 9.3%
Chris Sale – 5.3%
David Phelps – 4%
Jeremy Hellickson – 1.3%

Hellickson and Weaver are pitching in the same game.

7:30 pm Nashville time – jeffeljefe’s lineup

jeffeljefe is currently in 5th place. Let’s check out his roster. A huge 4th inning for the Nationals, in which Daniel Murphy and Trea Turner both homered, gave an enormous lift to this team. Turner and Murphy are on only 4 of the 75 rosters! Jeff used an Arizona stack, which turned out to be pretty chalky. At pitcher, Luke Weaver is returning good value so far.

6:30 pm Nashville time – rayofhope’s lineups

The rayofhope lineups went with Scherzer, Ray, and Weaver at pitcher. The full White Sox stack got off to a quick start with a Jose Abreu homer in his first at-bat. Notice the lower ownership on the full Astros stack in that same lineup. A Cubs stack and a trio of Nationals/White Sox in the same lineup are the way Ray and Cory decided to differentiate their teams. Each roster has at least one hitter below 3% ownership. As I type this, Ryan Zimmerman goes yard at only 2.7%!

Here are a few notes about the slate that I wanted to post before looking at anyone’s lineup: The only teams not on the Championship slate are the Mets, Giants, Rangers, and Rays. The Rockies are playing at home against the Cubs. It will be very interesting to see the ownership percentages of the Cubs and Rockies hitters tonight. The Rockies have called up one of their top prospects to make his first Major League start. Right-hander Jeff Hoffman will be on the mound for Colorado. Hoffman was a key component of the Troy Tulowitzki trade with the Blue Jays last summer. Southpaw Mike Montgomery gets the start for Chicago. The over/under for this game was set at 12 runs. No other game had a projected run total in the double-digits.

The priciest pitcher on the slate is Max Scherzer ($11,000), who faces the Braves in Atlanta. The other hurlers above $10K are Chris Sale ($10,500), pitching at home against Oakland, and Felix Hernandez ($10,400), who has a home matchup versus the Brewers. Scherzer and Hernandez’s squads were both over 2/1 favorites to win.

The big questions on this slate are who will pay up at pitcher and how popular will the Cubs and Rockies hitters be? With three extra-inning games on Friday night, two of which had rain delays, I think everyone is hoping tonight’s slate concludes more quickly.
