On Sunday, Aaron Rodgers will lead the Packers into San Francisco with the NFC Championship on the line. NFC Championship Betting Picks — Packers vs. 49ers

In a rematch of their Week 12 matchup in San Francisco, the Packers will play the 49ers to determine who will represent the NFC in Super Bowl 54. The Packers are coming off a strong performance at Lambeau Field against the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers, meanwhile, completely shut down the Minnesota Vikings in their Divisional Round contest.

While the 49ers did not make all of the headlines coming out the Divisional Round, San Francisco certainly put together the most dominant performance. Holding the Vikings to 147 total yards and sacking Kirk Cousins six times, the Niners’ defense put on a clinic. Back to form from earlier in the season, the 49ers stifled the Vikings and kept the ball for 38 minutes.

Jimmy Garoppolo only needed to attempt 19 passes in the victory. Instead, the 49ers leaned heavily on the ground game with 47 attempts for 186 yards. Tevin Coleman came back to life — accumulating 105 yards and two touchdowns in the home victory.

The Packers shot out of the gates on fire against the Seattle Seahawks and did just enough late to hold on to a victory. With two Aaron Jones touchdowns in the first half, the Packers hit the locker room up 21-3. Perhaps pulling back the reins a bit too much allowed the Seahawks to creep back within a score but Green Bay iced the game with a long completion to Davante Adams and third down. A subsequent Jimmy Graham catch and review left a few kneel downs for the Green Bay victory. The Packers were outgained and held the ball for less time but a 9-14 success rate on third down was enough to make the difference in the game.

In the Week 12 matchup, the 49ers overwhelmed the Packers. Green Bay totaled 198 yards while Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times. Rodgers only threw for 105 yards as the 49ers’ defense — much like against Minnesota — overwhelmed the Packers’ offense. With the defense entirely healthy, one should expect Aaron Rodgers to be under siege throughout the game. The 49ers will happily lean on their rushing attack against a Green Bay defense that allowed north of 119 rushing yards per game this season.

NFC Championship Betting Picks — Packers vs. 49ers

The 7.5-point spread leaves me in fear of choosing a side against the spread. While San Francisco is my lean, I hate the hook and will instead, look at the total. The public has bet the over on this game since the total opened at 45 points. With every shift, the tickets keep getting printed on the over. I want to fade the public and back a 49ers’ defense that seemed impenetrable last week against the Vikings. For the purposes of the article, I will take the under 46.5 points but will keep my eye on the total. With so many bets coming in above this mark, we might see the total at 47 points — or more — soon.

The Pick: Under 46.5 Points (-110) (DraftKings)
