FantasyDraft Review – Play Rake-Free Daily Fantasy Football

Rake is the percentage of each entry that most sites will take out of the prizepool and into their pockets, but not at FantasyDraft! Rake-Free contests means that more money is going into your pocket! Over time, DFS players can lose over 30% of their bankroll to rake but at FantasyDraft, 100% of entry fees get paid out to you, the winner!

FantasyDraft has moved to a membership format based on total buy ins per month that can save players of all levels a ton of money over the rake based sites. For lower volume players, the first $100/month is played absolutely free. After the first $100, the higher the volume, the more you save.

This review will introduce you to the key features, games, partnerships and promotions going on at FantasyDraft, as well as how it compares to other sites in the daily fantasy sports industry.

Game Offerings

The games available at FantasyDraft include salary cap contest for seven major sports including NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and PGA. For how bullish the site is, I imagine they’ll be adding other sports soon.

Their easy to navigate lobby makes it simple to join and filter contest by game type, entry fee, and prize-pool.

As mentioned above FantasyDraft is the first site to go rake-free! Players who have a free PlayersFirst membership can play their first $100 per month without signing up for one their paid memberships.

Memberships

FantasyDraft has gone 100% rake free, and offers memberships based on your volume of play. FantasyDraft is completely free up to $100 a month worth of buy ins. For members that want to keep going, paid memberships begin at $5.99/month and get you access to up to $1000 worth of buy ins that are 100% rake free! Memberships can be upgraded or downgraded each month, so you are never locked in and can cancel anytime.

  • Enjoy the first $100 per month for free! For your convenience, you will see your total buy ins on the sidebar.
  • Once you get close to reaching the top end of a tier, you will be notified, and given the option to upgrade to the next tier.
  • You are never locked in to a tier, if you are more active during football season, but not so much during baseball season, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time.

If you are wondering how much the membership based vs rake based can save you, we did the math for you. If you were to take advantage of the Starter Membership through FantasyDraft that costs $5.99 and played through the full $1000 threshold, this would mean you paid the equivalent of 0.6% rake. With the DFS industry average rake being around 10%, you could be paying upwards of $100 while playing the same buy in amounts which means you saved around $94 in fees.

FantasyDraft Tiers vs Rake Based Sites

Membership TierBuy in TotalsCost Per Month Rake Based Site Average

As you can see, the higher in tiers you go, the greater the savings as compared to the rake based sites. FantasyDraft has something for everyone from the casual DFS player to the highest volume players.

Contest Types

FantasyDraft offers a nice variety of user-created and guaranteed prize pool (GPP) contests. These include traditional 50/50 and Head-To-Head cash game formats, smaller user-created leagues, and a variety of qualifier contest to their large events and GPPs.

Banking Options

FantasyDraft offers deposits via credit cards and PayPal and withdrawals can be made via PayPal or you can request a physical check to be mailed to your home address.

Lineup Construction

The lineup building process at FantasyDraft is simple. Each lineup is required to have players from three different teams, and no more than five players from any single team.

The easy-to-read player cards provide all the information you need including current season stats, splits, the latest team and player news, and a summary of the player’s upcoming matchup.

FantasyDraft lists “flexible lineups” as one of its strengths, telling gamers on their website that “We give you the freedom to choose more of your favorite players.” For NFL, this simply is having a 2nd FLEX spot. However, in NBA, the flexibility is clear. Rosters are completed with 3 G’s, 3 F/C’s and 2 UTIL’s, offering a lineup format that’s truly unique from other sites.

Partners and Promotions

FantasyDraft has partnered with a number of pro athletes and announcers. At the time of this writing, these included Clayton KershawDrew BreesChris BoshKevin Love, Jimmy Johnson and more.

The site offers contests where you can play DFS against these pros, as well as tournaments where the grand prizes are trips and experiences meeting these celebrities.

Players First

FantasyDraft’s motto is always “Players First” and this is demonstrated in many ways:

  • Rake Free: No rake means bigger prizepools, which leads to bigger payouts!
  • Flexible Lineup Structure: More freedom to choose more of your favorite players!
  • Multi-Entry Capping: FantasyDraft levels the playing field by limiting the number of lineups players can enter into the same contest.
  • Play with the Pros: Play against professional athletes, and see how you stack up!
