FantasyUp Logo

Last Updated: September 13, 2014

FantasyUp is one of several new DFS sites hoping to capitalize on the ongoing daily fantasy surge. Each site looks to differentiate themselves from the competition, and FantasyUp does so by offering NO rake until April 2015. Yes that’s correct, 0% rake from now until April 2015. Their motto is “By the players, for the players” and it’s clear that this was their emphasis from the beginning. They specialize in excellent deposit bonuses and quick payouts.

This FantasyUp review will cover the game offerings, promotions, scoring, user experience, and customer service that you can expect with FantasyUp.

Game Offerings

Football, hockey, and NBA are currently in-season, so FantasyUp offers contests for all of these sports, although the football and basketball action is limited to to the professional game. You are taken straight to the contest lobby after logging in or you can select “Games” on the main menu.

Promotions and Special Events

Although this isn’t a traditional promotion, the omission of a rake for several months definitely qualifies as a promotion in our book. Enjoy it the free money while it lasts. With the start of football season underway, we could see some exciting news coming from FantasyUp.

Roster, Rules, and Scoring

Football is the lifeblood of daily fantasy sites, so the scoring system and roster requirements for NFL contests are very important to DFS players. FantasyUp utilizes the 2-QB approach, which is a welcome site to many players. The rest of the lineup requirements are fairly standard and include a flex and a kicker. It’s a half-point PPR scoring setup and the rest of the scoring is standard (no bonuses for high yardage totals, etc.). The scoring system for Drafter’s baseball offering is almost identical to FanDuel’s, so players migrating from there will feel right at home. For a detailed listing of scoring, see the “Scoring” tab on this page or check them out at https://www.fantasyup.com/#/rules.

User Experience

FantasyUp has a unique visual interface, choosing to go with a black and blue theme that looks good, but may not be everyone’s cup of team. While the style preference might not be for everyone, the experience and interface are functional, which is what DFS players care about most. Everything is laid out logically and the abbreviations and tick marks are clearly identified with a legend so no one is confused about what they mean. Current scores are shown at the top of the screen, which is a nice touch for people that want to stay connected while building lineups or joining contests. Overall, we liked the interface and expect newcomers to pick it up within a few minutes.

Contest Selection

When you login, you will be taken to the contest selection screen. You can easily navigate their from other sections of the site by clicking the “Games” menu option. Filters allow you to filter by sport, buyin, number of players (a nice touch), game type, and start time. You also have the ability to sort by most of these options as well. As the site continues to grow, we will see more and more game offerings.

Game Selection Screen

Lineup Composition

As with most modern sites, the lineup building process was simple. At the top, the applicable position will be selected and all eligible players will with shown on screen including their matchup, salary, and average points per game. The default sorting order for the player pool is by salary, but can also be sorted by team or average points per game. There are no profile pages for each player. When you click on a player name, it simply selects them, but no additional information is available. This is a really bummer because game logs and additional news feeds can be invaluable tools for players as they build their lineups.

FantasyUp's lineup composition is intuitive, but missing some key features

Mobile Support

Everyone needs to make changes to their lineups on the fly, which is why it is disappointing that FantasyUp hasn’t made the mobile experience a top priority. The site lacks a dedicated mobile interface, which makes navigation much more difficult because you are viewing the desktop site on your phone. The only advantage to not having a dedicated mobile site is that all the same features are there, but they are more difficult to use. There should be a dedicated iOS app coming soon, which should make the mobile experience much more enjoyable.

Customer Service

Currently FantasyUp is available to be reached via email traditional mail. Phone support is coming soon, but was not available as of the time of this writing. There do not seem to be plans to add chat support in the immediate future.

Cashier Options and Deposit Bonuses

Getting your money in and out of sites is an important part of the DFS experience and FantasyUp makes sure that it isn’t a hassle to deal with. Accepted payment types include: credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover) and PayPal. They offer instant deposits and payouts! There is a $10 minimum deposit and withdrawal and no maximum withdrawal.
