NBA DFS 4 Factors - GPP Strategy & Live Blog: January 13th
Welcome to a new piece of content here at RG, 4 Factors. I’m pumped to be doing this Monday through Friday moving forward for NBA (and the other future main sports). Here’s the goal of this:
When it comes to making DFS tournament lineups, it’s about more than just picking the best players. If you just so happen to be better at predicting future fantasy points than the rest of the world (spoiler – you’re not), then you can disregard this. But for the rest of us, there are 4 critical factors to creating strong tournament lineups that give us the chance to be a winning player over the long term.
1. Projection
Even though there are a ton of levers we need to be pulling in order to construct tournament lineups, projections are still of the utmost importance. Even though we can’t be playing ALL the highest owned players in a single tournament lineup, we still want to be playing players who project well. Playing the backup small forward for the Hornets praying he has the best shooting game of his life in 14 minutes is going to make you go broke. Using a player who projects just a point or so worse (and has a similar ceiling) than a more popular player can, however, be very effective when you factor in ownership. Which leads me to…
Comments
Hello Erik…I appreciate all that you and the others at RG do to help those of us who don’t have time or knowledge to share the content that y’all do. I am a casual player that enjoys watching my sports with something on the line. I have a specific question and don’t know where to ask…so if it is not appropriate to ask here, please send me to the right place. Is there a place on RG for the NBA where I can download players Fpts and Salary for each contest? I am visual and I like using charts to determine if someone is due for a let down or a rebound from a previous performance. It may seem silly, but I think that would be a good way to search for value among the stars. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work…y’all make it fun for allowing us to enjoy fantasy sports.
Good stuff…again
Thank you Erik
