We are now at the last day of the season and there’s a lot riding on several of these games in the East as the 6th, 7th, and 8th seed have 8 potential outcomes. If the Hornets win here and Detroit loses, then they are in the Playoffs. The Magic on the other side are locked into the playoffs, but can be as high as the 6th seed and as low as the 8th.

The Hornets have been a much better team at home this year than on the road, going 20-18-2 ATS and 25-15 straight up, compared to 19-22 ATS and 14-27 straight up on the road. Looking at the Hornets numbers on back-to-backs, they have been a below average team going 7-8 ATS and 5-10 straight up. Overall, this is an average spot for the Hornets to cover.

Magic Historical Numbers Against the Spread

The Magic have blown most expectations out of the water this year as they may end up the 6th seed. As a result, they have been a fantastic team to bet on this season going 43-36-2 ATS (6th best in the league). Looking at the Magic’s home/road splits, they have been a better team to bet at home going 22-17-1 ATS, compared to 21-19 on the road. Additionally, The Magic have only been slightly above average on back-to-backs this season, going 7-6-1 ATS. Overall, this is a slightly below average spot for the Magic to cover.

The Hornets haven’t been a fantastic offensive team this season, but they have been one of the best teams to bet the over on this season, going 42-36-3 ATS (6th best in the league). The Hornets have been known as a team who is much better at home, but they have actually had the same cover rate on the over both on the road and at home, going 21-18. Even though the Hornets have covered the over at the same rate at both home and on the road, they have been one of the best teams at covering the over on a back-to-back, going 9-6. Overall, this is a good spot for the Hornets to cover the over.

The Magic have been a surprisingly good team on the defensive end of the floor this year, and as such they have covered the over at one of the lowest rates in the league, going 37-44 (8th lowest in the league). Looking at the Magic’s home/road splits, they have covered the over at a lower rate on the road than at home going 17-23 (5th lowest in the league), however they have covered the over at one of the highest rates in the league on back-to-backs, going 9-5 (5th highest rate in the league). Overall, this is a slightly above average spot for the Magic to cover the over.
