Phillies Bryce Harper(USA TODAY Sports)`

A meaningless shot served two helpings of bad beats in the Miami-Boston game Monday. The Yankees injury list continues to pile up, and Bryce Harper makes his return to the nation’s capital. Here’s a sports betting recap from Monday and a lookahead to Tuesday.

Bad Beats In Boston

The Boston Celtics got a win over the Miami Heat Monday night, but it didn’t come without knocking the wind out of Boston backers.

Up 110-102 with just seconds left, Celtics bettors — who were laying 7 points– were ready to cash their tickets, but Miami center Bam Adebayo had other plans.

Adebayo served the bad beat(s) of the night, draining a meaningless 25-foot three-pointer with just 1.8 seconds left.

It was the 7-footer’s second three of the year and definitely the most meaningful if you had any action on this game. Not only did the three hurt  those laying the points, but the shot also hit the Over on the total, 213.5.

The Heat were only two of nine underdogs to cover, and the Over went 8-1 for the night in NBA action.

Sitting just one game back from the No. 1 seed in the West, the Denver Nuggets will  face the Golden State Warriors with home court advantage for the NBA playoffs on the line in one of the biggest games of the year.

Winning seven of their last 10 games each, both teams have stayed steady during the last stretch of the regular season.

Oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook opened Golden State -8. The 8-point favorites come off a 137-90 blowout of the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

The Nuggets, on the other hand, suffered a 90-95 loss to the Washington Wizards that same day. Their frustration showed as Nikola Jokic was ejected from the game with a pair of technicals.

Golden State is still the hegemon in the West no matter how close the Nuggets get to them in the playoff standings. Golden State is 2-1 against the Nuggets this season, beating Denver 142-111 and 122-105 in their last two meetings.

It’s tough to gauge when the Warriors plan to show up in the regular season, and they’re one of the league’s least profitable teams to bet on. But the Warriors nearly learned a hard lesson last year, as the No. 1 seed Houston Rockets forced seven games in Western Conference Finals. Unfortunately for Nuggets fans, the Warriors aren’t handing out a No. 1 seed this year. Lay the points. Breakfast Pick: Golden State -8.

Injury Report

The New York Yankees added third baseman Miguel Andujar to an already crowded injury list. Andujar joins Giancarlo Stanton, Jacoby Ellsbury and Luis Severino as some of the major names currently sitting out for the Yankees. Nine Yankees are on the list in all.

Despite the injuries, New York (-240, O/U 8) is a heavy  favorite against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday. Masahiro Tanaka (R) will get the start against the Tiger’s Jordan Zimmerman (R).

Bryce Harper makes his first return to the nation’s capital since signing a 13-year, $330 million-dollar deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

A 14-year franchise, the Washington Nationals lack the history to have a real rivalry, but Harper’s departure to an NL East foe may change that.

As All-Star pitcher Max Scherzer said,  “Whatever happens on Tuesday, it’s going to be the course of a career of facing him. This is just round one.”

It just so happens the three-time Cy Young Award winner gets the first shot at his former teammate. With Scherzer on the mound, the Nats are -200 money line favorites Tuesday night.

The Phillies’ Zach Elfin gets his first start of the season after going 11-8 with a 4.36 ERA in 2018.

Scherzer is 0-1 but didn’t have much run support, as he struck out 12 in eight innings, giving up two runs on two hits in his first outing of the season versus the Mets.

I’m confident in the Nationals, but laying 2-to-1 to a Philly team that has started off the season 3-0 is too much, even with Scherzer pitching. Scherzer should deal, but the Nats have routinely failed to give their ace much run support over the last couple of years. I’m much more comfortable taking Under 7 runs in this spot. Breakfast Lean: Under 7 Runs.
