NBA: Playoffs-Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets
(USA TODAY Sports)

James Harden and Eric Gordon combined for 71 points as the Rockets won in overtime in Game 3 on Saturday. Steph Curry struggled while Kevin Durant looked like the best player on the court. The Rockets try to even up the series in front of their home town crowed tonight. Here’s a sports betting recap of Game 3 and a lookahead to Game 4.

A little less than a year after taking the Golden State Warriors to seven games in the Western Conference Finals, the Houston Rockets hope to even up a second round rematch with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry.

The Rockets are only 1.5-point home favorites Monday night, two points fewer than they were Saturday when they beat the Warriors 126-121 in overtime. While Harden led all Houston scorers with 41 points, Eric Gordon came up huge to add 30 points of his own.

Oddsmakers are expecting another high-scoring affair with a 221 point total.

Stat of the Day:

The Rockets were able to get the best of the Warriors in Game 3 thanks to a lackluster performance from two-time MVP winner Curry. By now, you’ve seen the missed layup that possibly cost Golden State backers their winning tickets. That wasn’t the only low point for Curry, though.  The 7-of-23 (2-of-9 from 3-pointer) shooting performance may have been the worst game of Curry’s playoff career.

Curry entered the series with an ankle injury, and then dislocated his finger in Game 2. While Curry hasn’t looked 100 percent, Kevin Durant sure has.  In his last seven playoff games, his lowest scoring performance was 29 points in the second game of this series. With Curry not looking fully himself, Durant will continue to step up in a big way. Breakfast Lean: Kevin Durant Over 29.5 Points.

The Breakfast Pick

Like the series with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Golden State Warriors continue to be dominant in the first quarter against the Rockets. They haven’t trailed at the end of the first 12 minutes yet. For that reason, I’m ignoring the game spread and I’m just taking the first quarter spread, Golden State +0.5. Breakfast Pick: First Quarter Golden State Warriors +0.5
