The NBA may be on a break, but the basketball slate remains busy with 14 college games to watch Monday night and we’ll have seven more games Tuesday with Top 25 teams on the hardwood. Favorites and dogs split 7-7 ATS on Monday, while the Under hit in 10 of the games. The night gave us a premier ACC matchup between Virginia and Virginia Tech, an upset in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and a big second half from Kansas State to maintain sole possession of first place in the Big 12 standings. Here is your full sports betting recap and lookahead for Tuesday.

Bad Beat in Virginia

The No. 4 Virginia Cavaliers outscored No. 22 Virginia Tech Hokies 32-29 in each half to walk out of Blacksburg with a 64-58 win, putting them a half game back behind Duke in the ACC. How you felt about this game as a bettor really depended on what time you bet the game. Some bettors had the Over/Under at 122 while others had 119. Some had Virginia -3.5 and others got Virginia at -6. Virginia and/or Over bettors who had the worst of these numbers suffered a bad beat when a Virginia player was rejected by the rim on a fast break to make the game a 10-point lead with just 22 seconds left.

Cowboys See Reverse Line Movement

We saw major reverse line movement in the TCU-Oklahoma State game. TCU was receiving around 70% of bets but the line dropped from TCU -3 to TCU -1.5 before the game started – and for good reason. Oklahoma State would go on to win outright 68-61 cashing +145 tickets for bettors who took Oklahoma State to win early. It’s worth noting TCU was playing without their second highest scoring player, sophomore Kouat Noi.

Kansas State Keeps Big 12 Lead

The public hit on Kansas State Wildcats against the West Virginia Mountaineers +7 (Over/Under 129) thanks to the Big 12 Pre-Season Player of the Year, Dean Wade, playing despite a tweaked ankle. Wade was seen warming up before the game, but his status was unclear through the day. Wade Contributed 10 points and 8 rebounds in the Wildcats’ 65-51 win. The Wildcats headed into halftime with only a two-point lead and outscored the Mountaineers in the second half 35-21 to cover the second-half spread (K-State -4) and the full game spread for public bettors. Like fellow Big 12 team Oklahoma State, West Virginia lacks depth on the bench due to unfortunate events that have taken place throughout the season. Keep an eye on fading them in the 2nd half,  and if you’re wanting to take them then sticking with the first half spread might be your best bet.

Injured Bears Travel to Ames

The Iowa State Cyclones will look to build on Saturday’s 78-64 upset over Kansas State when the Baylor Bears visit Ames Tuesday night. The line opened Iowa State -9 (Over/Under 143). A win for Iowa State will keep them in a three-way tie for 2nd place in the Big 12. Each team has six wins ATS, one game back from Kansas State. Iowa State and Baylor both have six wins ATS in their last 10 games, and the Over is 7-2 in the teams’ last nine meetings. Iowa State is lead by Mariol Shayok, a Big 12 Player of the Year contender, averaging 19 points per game.

Injury Report: Da Bears

Baylor hopes to bounce back from a 86-61 pounding by Texas Tech on Saturday. The question is, will Baylor be healthy? Key players Makai Mason (toe) and King McClure (knee) were both held out during the loss Saturday and are considered day-to-day. Without them, Baylor is left with eight scholarship players, including one former walk on. Baylor is 1-3 in their last four games SU, in large part due to Mason and McClure either being out or hobbled by injuries. Breakfast Lean: Iowa State -9

Temperature Check

The Kentucky Wildcats might have lost to LSU a week ago, but overall John Calipari’s team has come on strong in the last half of the season, going 9-1 ATS in their last 10. Kentucky travels to Missouri today as 11-point favorites (Over/Under 133.5). Kentucky is 6-1 ATS on the road (15-10 ATS overall).

Stat of the Day

The Ottawa Senators and Chicago Blackhawks combined for 9 first period goals in the 12th-highest scoring period in NHL history. The Over (6.5 goals) hit with just 6:38 left in the first period.
