So, I know we still haven’t even seen week 3 of preseason, but just wanted to start a thread and get people’s predictions for this season because it’s a good time to talk football. Here are mine (subject to change if a star player gets injured before the season starts):

    Playoffs:
    AFC
    1)Steelers
    2)Patriots
    3)Chargers
    4)Jaguars
    5)Titans
    6)Texans

    NFC
    1)Saints
    2)Rams
    3)Vikings
    4)Eagles
    5)Falcons
    6)Packers

    Super Bowl: Saints over Steelers

The NFC seems to have a few other solid teams that could compete for those final couple of playoff spots, but that’s what I’ve got at the moment.

    AFC
    1. Patriots
    2. Steelers
    3. Chiefs
    4. Texans
    5. Jaguars

    NFC
    1. Saints
    2. Eagles
    3. Rams
    4. Vikings
    5. Packers
    6. 49ers

Super Bowl (wish): Dolphins over Rams

Super Bowl (realistic): Patriots over Eagles in a rematch. Brady goes for 342 yards and 4 TD’s and rides off into the sunset with Belichick.

They deserve two spots after some of the luck they’ve had.

The Vikings face each of the Packers, Rams, Eagles, and Patriots all on the road this year. Their schedule is no cakewalk, nor is the NFC in general. While not the likeliest outcome in my opinion, it’s conceivable that they miss the playoffs.

This illustrates the most important step for these predictions: sitting down with the schedule and actually handicapping all 256 games.

It’s very easy to like the Vikings in the abstract. It’s a lot more complicated once you check their schedule and think for a moment about their OL, or the odds of Thielen and Diggs both playing 16 games. Now repeat the exercise for the Panthers. Gets real ugly, real quick.

Lot of good NFC teams are going to be watching the playoffs on their couches, come January.

Also Kirk Cousins is their QB and besides garbage time stats he isnt good for much winning… Redskins fan talking here.

I am a life long Vikings fan and even if they played 16 high school teams and were guaranteed a spot in the playoffs everyone around here knows they would find a way to blow it in the playoffs. They are a cursed team that might be good but at the end of the day are not winning crap.

I live in L.A., and if that happened, you’d be right… hardly anyone here would care. They’d be more excited about a regular season USC game even if the team was already out of contention.
