Yahoo runs a free one but it is only for $10,000 vs. the $250,000 Fan Duel is offering

mine is one i have been in for 10 or so years…pays 10k to first

I have a survivor league I play in using Yahoo and they provide actual % picked for each team site wide which updates throughout the day. So if your looking for a projection that isn’t a bad place to go since they give you the real time actual % picks on a global site wide scale to help you decide.

I’ll likely be taking the Ravens I think. Lions could be in play. NE, GB, NO are heavy hitters you might want to save for later in the season though.

BAL, DET, NO, NE. I’m not going to use Detroit again so I like the big home favorite vs a rookie QB. Lions for me.

  • clrockny24

NO is probably the safest, although I want to save them. I like the lions, but what if Darnold sets the world on fire? I have a strange feeling Baltimore may lose.

I do wonder, why does anyone look at ownership in survivor?

  • JTSnow4091

Been playing survivor pools for a while, haven’t won one yet, but I made it to the final three people of a $10,000 USD pool last year. Had saved NE while everyone had much riskier picks. Go figure, their picks won while NE lost in MIA. Getting far in these pools even if you don’t end up winning is nice because you can start to hedge out at a certain point. After all, survivor pools are pretty much season long money line parlays.

Ownership matters in survivor because if you chose a slightly more contrarian pick that was only slightly less likely to win while everyone is on a chalky favorite, and the favorite loses, a lot of your pool gets eliminated while you move on.

There are two schools of thought in survivor. One focuses more on winning THIS week, forget planning for the future because hey, who knows what that team you saved will look like later on. Maybe NE ends up being terrible this year because old man Brady goes on a steep decline. Or you “saved GB” for later, but Aaron Rodgers goes down with injury for the season again. Or a team everyone expected to be bad ends up being really good. Etc.

The other focuses on long-term planning, saving your “strong picks” for later in the season, willing to take more contrarian picks early on to do so. Remember, losing in week 16 of a pool is the same as losing in week 1.

Kind of like a lot of the special and exclusive freerolls out there for DFS, there are many survivor pools as well, but ppl won’t be chomping at the bit to share because some of these pools are not well-known, some are free (others are paid), and they want to keep them that way (to increase their chances at winning, especially since prize pools are quite large). Do a Google search and search around, especially with different DFS sites and sportsbooks.

    BOL gents.

People look at ownership for the same reason as they do in GPP’s. Most survivor leagues are winner take all so some people like to fade the 30-40% owned chalk in the hopes of an upset taking out half the field. If you take the highest owned team every single week you can’t win a survivor pool and even if you did and there were 0 upsets al season on the chalk you would be splitting the big prize 5000 ways.

Ideally if you survive 17 weeks you want to win it alone or very close to it so you can take all the money.

I doubt they will be 10% owned as them and the Chargers are going to be far and away the most popular picks. You have to remember that 100% of teams remaining in every survivor league has NO still available to use.

i pivoted off nola and had bal/min as my two. half the field eliminated with NO/DET going down

Right. Because everybody who’s still alive was smart enough not to pick a divisional rivalry in week 1. Should be plenty of folks who recognize the value in an inter-conference Sean Payton vs. Gregg Williams #RevengeGame.

Saints don’t have a particularly easy schedule. They’re still near peak health, apart from the Ingram suspension. I’m not afraid to burn them here.

    well said

  • CleverGroom

Well that was closer than it needed to be. I was wrong on most of my picks this week, so it’s a good thing the Browns saw fit to play an injured kicker as if nothing was wrong.
