How is business at the Boston Encore? The Tampa Hard Rock seems to be humming along the couple of times I’ve gone, but Las Vegas is really struggling I hear

Encore is steady…but its really the hardcore gamblers right now…we don’t have the club open which is huge, and the bars aren’t open also no convention traffic, no one traveling and no athletes like we usually get. We are hoping to get back craps and roulette soon! But it has been fairly steady…ONLY problem is the Govenor of Mass put up a travel ban for RI and other surrounding states so basically I am in RI I can go back and forth because I work in MA…however others outside of MA cannot come and go that goes into effect Friday if I am not mistaken so we will have to see what happens. They are going to be giving out 500.00 fines if they are caught.

my payout was $10 which was my original bet.

they told me that the payout was less but they decided to pay out the wager amount instead of the actual amount which would be less than $10. (I FOUND THIS UNPALATABLE)

I win a wager I get my wager + whatever profit.
they are telling me I do not get a profit…….does this make sense, am I being an idiot for fighting this?

Accept their genorous $10 , Tim.

The actual return should have been less.

Tim they are right and have cut you a break by giving you your stake back.

Koepka would have been odds-on to place before the start of Sunday’s play.

Because 4 golfers tied for the 2 place spots behind Thomas half your stake was a winner and half your stake was a loser.

So effectively you had a losing $5 bet and a winning $5 bet

A winning $5 bet at odds-on is obviously going to return less than $10

a couple things I dont think the place bet of finishing 1, 2, or 3 has anything to do with splitting the ticket to win place. I think its just all 1 pool.

the original wager was $20 with 10 for the win and 10 for the place (place does include win but its not a part of the bet specificly to win) my win bet was 4-1 payout 50 and the place bet was 1/5 of the 4-1 payout 18.

    JT wins
Brooks, Lewis, Berger, and phil the thrill got 2nd.

so 2 extra people to pay out due to the dead heat rule. ( 5 golfers who finished in T3). I am not expecting riches but some profit?

Thanks for the attempt, as you can see I am struggling with it……
I guess any other bets regarding any of the 78 golfers to place, have no bearing on the winner and payoff. I find it hard that all the money was bet on these 5 who placed. (pari-mutual wagering is the best and this isnt that.)

Winner: the casino because they collected on a bunch of bets on 73 golfers.

    thanks kingspark

You would have to withdraw one entry and then go to the promos page and click on the claim offer button.

    EXCLUSIVE CROWNS OFFER
    5,000 CROWNS!
Get 5,000 Crowns when you play in the $3M Fantasy Golf Millionaire ($20 entry). Opt-in required, tap “CLAIM OFFER” to get started.

That is if it shows up for you. I have no idea why some see it and some don’t. I also got an email about it and when I opened the app on my phone a popup came there too.

This offer is only available to some people. I received an NFL ticket offer.

Some promotions are personalized and they seemed targeted to get you into things you might not normally enter – I got a couple different NBA Milly ones last week and I only play it 4-5 days a season.

I play the majority of my golf right across the lake from Harding and can confirm the marine layer is generally a real pain in the ass. On average you’re losing 5% of your distance and there’s massive inconsistencies in its effects. Harding tends to be a bit more open to the ocean so its effects are more uniform across the course, but AM to PM will be very different experiences as it burns off.

I have absolutely no idea what you mean by the marine layer.

    Showing my ignorance here. lol

What do you mean by AM to PM different experiences?

Specifically, on Harding, Is there any advantage to be had AM/PM.

My sister lives on the waterfront in Hull and works in Boston (takes the water taxi across the harbor) but she’s been working at home the whole while. She loved it at first, but is bored stiff now. She was asking me about the Encore because she likes to gamble a bit. Thanks for the update.

AM/PM: The morning winds are expected to be 4-7 mph…..doable. However, temps will be chillier.

The afternoon winds are expected to be closer to 25+ mph….a very different animal.

This information works best if you are playing in SHOWDOWN plays. (Just Thursday scoring)

What are people’s thoughts on using right rough tendency and left rough tendency to determine a players preferred ball flight. An example being Sepp Straka: 16% right rough tendency and 12% left rough tendency. Logically, I feel like the conclusion here is that he much prefers to play a cut since you’d tend to have more misses right then left with a cut.

I would not use that to make any decisions as there are different types of misses and players use different center line targets.

    Couple examples:
I play a little draw with the driver so your theory would assume I would have more missed fairways left but in reality, I’m aiming down the right-center (to play the draw) and when they don’t draw, I often run through the fairway on the right. My misses are probably 75% Right and only 25% Left.

Another example where this approach may not be correct is that on many courses a Tour player is ok with being in the rough if it sets up a better angle so not all missed fairways are due to a shot pattern trend but instead a preference to be in the left rough to get at a few tight right pin placements.

Most good players have a one-sided miss (similar to what I was referring to above); they basically take one side of the golf course away and only have to manage one side of the fairway/rough. If you start seeing a pro missing fairways left and right (and by a fair bit), he is likely going to have a bad round as a two-sided miss has crept into their swing.

check out this satellite picture. All those clouds sitting along the coast and inland through the Golden Gate are the marine layer. Cold, wet, dense, moist air.

    Marine Layer

A marine layer is an air mass which develops over the surface of a large body of water such as the ocean or large lake in the presence of a temperature inversion. The inversion itself is usually initiated by the cooling effect of the water on the surface layer of an otherwise warm air mass. As it cools, the surface air becomes denser than the warmer air above it, and thus becomes trapped below it. The layer may thicken through turbulence generated within the developing marine layer itself. It may also thicken if the warmer air above it is lifted by an approaching area of low pressure. The layer will also gradually increase its humidity by evaporation of the ocean or lake surface, as well as by the effect of cooling itself. Fog will form within a marine layer where the humidity is high enough and cooling sufficient to produce condensation. Stratus and stratocumulus will also form at the top of a marine layer in the presence of the same conditions there.

In the case of coastal California, the offshore marine layer is typically propelled inland by a pressure gradient which develops as a result of intense heating inland, blanketing coastal communities in cooler air which, if saturated, also contains fog. The fog lingers until the heat of the sun becomes strong enough to evaporate it, often lasting into the afternoon during the “June gloom” period. An approaching frontal system or trough can also drive the marine layer onshore.

A marine layer will disperse and break up in the presence of instability, such as may be caused by the passage of a frontal system or trough, or any upper air turbulence that impinges on it. A marine layer can also be driven away by sufficiently strong winds.

It is not unusual to hear media weather reporters discuss the marine layer as if it were synonymous with the fog or stratus it may contain, but this is erroneous. In fact, a marine layer can exist with virtually no cloudiness of any kind, although it usually does contain some. The marine layer is a medium within which clouds may form under the right conditions; it is not the layers of clouds themselves.
