Yep, that was my life growing up, and now my son plays soccer and I’m torn between seeing how far it can go, or just letting it fizzle out now. I figure I’ll wait for puberty to hit, because at this point I can tell he doesn’t have that competitive aggression in him that is needed to succeed (he’s 10). Hoping the light switch comes on soon, or else it’s time to pack it in.

I’d be happy if I could get him interested in golf, but he finds it very boring so far.

Same boat with my son, but with baseball. Since the season got cancelled for COVID and we live near a golf course he has been going to the driving range with me recently. They just opened the practice area and he started putting for the first time this weekend. He sunk a 45 footer (unreal) and is now officially hooked.

    There’s hope yet!

Any love for Dylan Frittelli or Carlos Ortiz? I have both scattered in my mid-7,000 slots.

I don’t mind either but Ortiz looks nice on DK! Gonna have to think he’s a bit chalky though.

I excluded both of them from my pool. Have it down to 40 players at the moment. More cutting to do today

Driving accuracy is not important at all in this tournament. Neither is GIR.

Field hit the fairways at a 68% clip last year and 75% of GIR.

Need guys who hit it far and can hit it close on the 2nd shot.

My order of importance this week – SG: approach, SG: OTT, BoB%, par 5 scoring, SG: ATG

Just be careful you don’t end up with all guys who look just amazing at those BS stats and can’t make a putt on bentgrass….cough, cough Max Homa

I would be looking at sg putting (bentgrass) instead of sg around the green since, as you noted, the field hit 75% GIR last year.

    That’s just me though…

Also Wolff led the field in GIR gained last year. It may hurt a Norlander a bit though since that’s his bread and butter and he’s not great at proximity. I did put less weight on GIR gained this week.

I just don’t rely on SG: putting. I know other people use it. You can rely on people to be consistently terrible at putting (Benny An, Homa, etc) but SG: putting is fluky in my opinion where ball striking isn’t.

I get why people use it, I just don’t.

An interesting piece of fantasy scoring… 14 players got the AU70 bonus last year.

Regular man Bryson did not even though he came in 2nd.

Roger Sloan, Johnson Wagner and Shawn Stefani all did it. They are all 6600 or less on DK.

Where can I find stats on putting for different surfaces? I see the SG putting on PGA tour website but can’t find for different surfaces

Long time golf fans, question for you.

When someone, say fleetwood, comes back after a hiatus and we’re near a major, how often is the first tournament back just used as a pure tune up to shake off rust? Obviously any playing will be for that reason, but a guy like that who is focused on the big prize has to be less concerned with a win here than say… Burns, Doc? Or am I realllly overthinking it?

Behind a pay-wall. It sucks, but I don’t think that information is out there.

EDIT: I rely on the forum to tell me who sucks on which surfaces. There are a few guys that you only play on those specific green types (see “Bermuda Ben” – Is that still a thing?).

I only know of paid sites having that.

When Tyrrell Hatton came back at the RBC Heritage I wasn’t sure if he was gonna be rusty or not and he ended up finishing 3rd. I’m not gonna overthink it this week with Fleetwood.

And its well worth it IMO. I don’t need the tout stuff, guys telling me who to play. The raw data in golf is gold. Gold Jerry.

Do I dare roster JJ Spaun this week?

I keep looking at Harman. And no joke, I dreamt last night the dude helped me take down a tourny. But I just can’t seem to click on the guy who looks like Murr from Impractical Jokers in his profile pic.

He helped me take down the GHO in 2019!

I don’t have the balls to do it in a single entry…

But Ted Potter Jr top 20s this thing

  • zeeshan2

really like will gordon this week; ball Striking – 36th, and BoB – 15th. He also ranks 16th in SGT.

Why is sg atg more important than accuracy in a birdie fest? Better accuracy gives better chances to stuff one close.
