Which super-chalky golfer win will this week?

    Martin Trainer

Burns and EvR week, what could go wrong lol

  • Kp24

This weeks “Wednesday Scramble” is Fleetwood, Wolff, Will Gordon, Paul Casey.

Unsure of teams but I would assume England Vs US.

Interested to see if Fleetwood looks sharp

They should eat this course up. Especially Burns. Hes basically this week’s Bryson with his driver and 80 yard approaches

What was this tournament called before?

    The 3M Open

This is the second year of its existence

Wolff drained a long eagle on 18 to beat Bryson by one shot who had earlier made eagle

    Pricing is out

Edit: and they did not do a good job at all. As suspected it will be ultra stars/scrubs. Legit world class players are priced at 7k which will make them very popular

  • noddy

After last week I’m not sure who to play this week. The obvious big guns like DJ and Brooks scare me.

  • mr_papageorgio

Salaries are out. I’m not sure how this compares to normal distribution but there are 97 golfers under 7k this week and that seems really high. Might be a week to leave some salary on the table.

    Nice

Apparently shooting 80 on Sunday earns you an 11k+ price tag on DK.

To remove any biases, this is my thinking now. I will NOT look at prices now because I don’t want it to bias my thinking.

If Tommy Fleetwood is the highest priced golfer, I’ll probably have 10% of him in stars and scrubs builds.

If Tommy Fleetwood is priced lower than DJ and/or Brooks (especially both), I’ll have 25% of him.

I know this isn’t the “fundamental” way to think about it since Tommy is still Tommy regardless of his price, but I’m not someone who’s great at fundamental knowledge of golfers as some of you guys here, so I have to rely on what I’m good at, which is numbers. So in this case, I’m playing a strictly value game with Fleetwood, especially since he literally hasn’t played competitively in months. However, his wife says he’s been practicing everyday at Shinnecock during quarantine, for whatever that’s worth.

Was hoping to play Adam Hadwin. Finished 4th last year. Wonder why he’s skipping. I guess a lot of them have played too much lately.

Yea Morikawa, Hovland, Bryson, even Sungjae Im all taking this week off. Morikawa did great last year here too. I remember I had a Bryson/Morikawa lineup and of course Wolff wins.

Might be nice to have some 6/6s that actually help and not hurt lol

Do we just keep “Brooksing” and hope for the best or dump him? Leaning towards loading up even in his IDGAF mode. Same with DJ. I might go lighter on Finau and will eat the EVR chalk.

One scrub I’m looking forward to keep playing is Sloan. He’s having a good season and is part of the Canadian team I see on the leaderboard of late. He’s not “high up” but he’s there checking out for cheap price tag. I need some wins here!

This is the week to get a 6/6 if you had one. There’s so many fantasy points on this course from birdies alone, not to mention streaks/eagles/bogey free rounds/AU70 bonuses, etc having that one extra golfer is important.

However, of course, getting the 6 golfers is in itself another problem I’m not generally great at haha. I hope to carry my momentum to this week though but I think I’ll target Showdown more since I don’t wanna be screwed by a 1 shot MC that costs me a big swing.

I didn’t quite understand your statements there. So, just don’t look at prices now, but let it influence your decisions later?

    DJ way too expensive.

Yea. Didn’t understand it either. A lot of thought process avoiding something that will make all the difference later.

  • sneaksox

Going back to Brooks. Again. He needs FedEx points.

There’s also a great EURO tournament this week but of course the GPPs are pretty unappetizing.

Oh it’s like this. I think Monarch has a similar approach based on his comments from the Memorial.

I make my own value ranking first. I don’t want to look at prices because then my ranking list could be influenced by the prices/odds. Then I overlay my ranking list vs the actual prices and choose from there.

    So I have say

Fleetwood and DJ tied for 1. Brooks 3rd. Finau 4th. Casey 5th.

But if the prices come in say Fleetwood 3rd behind DJ and Brooks, I’m going to go overweight Fleetwood.

So yea prices affect my final decision but not looking at them now removes any biases in my rankings.

It’s not really pertinent for the high priced players but more so for the value players in the 7-9k range where I’ll have vastly different rankings imo.

This is the same approach that led me to Rahm and Finau last week so I’ll stick with it. For example I had Rahm 4th highest last week (behind Bryson, Rory, JT as my top 3), but he came in below like Hovland, Cantlay, DJ, Morikawa, etc. I remember having this discussion with Baggerly I believe last week? So I’m just choosing here on relative odds, not strictly if I like player X or not. I know others have more fundamental knowledge than me and will choose players based on the players but here I’m trying to choose based on value.

Might be the way to go. And we have baseball coming back so some funds will go over there. I should still play my “normal” as I’m on quite a nice losing streak and wouldn’t want to “win” on an even tinier week than my normal.

Yes. They priced some guys way up. Understandable. Then you have Stallings and Schwab for example priced as if its not some birdie fest. Those two I mentioned are very capable of ripping this course apart.

Edit: Chesson Hadley 6900. He has tons of upside on this type of track

Why can’t I quit you, Troy Merritt?

I’m hoping his missed cut last week lowers his ownership a little. Merritt and Sam Burns will be in a lot of my lineups even though it appears Burns might be a very popular play this week.

Agreed on Stallings and Schwab, they were one of my first “locks” (as locked as you can get on a Monday morning).
