inferior talent to make the cut and stay competitive against superior talent.

    thats an interesting point

its our jobs(hobby) to make that distinction talent wise. Although I agree PGA Tour has elite golfers, whats the difference in talent for the next 100 guys. To make our lives difficult, any golfer on any day, but its a 4 day contest. Now add to the fact its a birdiefest, so the golfers are comparatively closer in anything measurable.

Lots of sub 7k talent with the ability.

Anyone have any thoughts on Pat Perez? Just started playing golf more on DFS with all the other sports down and haven’t really heard his name mentioned by anyone or anywhere despite seeming like a a decent value to make the cut at his price. Skipped the Memorial but made the cut at his last two tourneys the Workday and Rocket Mortgage. Is he a decent pick or am I missing something?

5+ years of grinding and I’ve never listened to a tout/podcast – I know how the business works and I don’t need those things buzzing around my head when I’m trying to make my decisions – tried once to watch Mayo and made it through about 10 minutes and I’ve also watched about 20 minutes of Wiley’s periscope show but otherwise this has been a solo mission.

This is also why I try to nail down 90+% of my player pool on Sunday night well before the salaries come out so I’m not overly influenced by price or things I hear/see during the week.

Pretty impressive honestly to not even wonder or see what “touts” are liking etc I half listen to them to see who I wanna avoid but sometimes they do offer up some good stat nuggets.

But to be honest BIF, to narrow down your guys around Sunday and who you think fits, I love that. That’s what a tout should aspire to

The best way to make unique lineups is to not listen to the touts or read about anyone else’s picks. Just like my dad always used to say before I walked out the door when I was young… “Use your own brain!”

I’m rolling the dice on Theegala this week. He can make birdies, just hope he can pull out his first made cut. This is definitely the field to do it in.

Pat Perez should do well here. Weak field, he can poke it out there, and he can go on streaks if the putter gets hot.

    Dewoc,
You can have your Redman, but I’ve always been a believer in Johnny V, and Powers. If you can skiddle around in even for a side , you have some understanding of playing the game. We seem similar that we are going to shoot something between 75-85. That’s great! Except for the fact that we both suck donkey balls at DFS golf.
I really feel like not using those two guys because it’s always two guys that make you suck, We both suck at this, so it seems prudent to fade our mutual likes…….make sense?

Big Ray, This picture scares me :) Who is it?

for you Aussies, This guy looks like he want out and is hungry enough to eat Or pork someone. If I saw him by the side of the road should I worry?

being an American, we think Kangaroo’s and Kuala’s are sooo cute and cuddly

The cute and cuddly ones you see are the relatively tame ones in captivity, best to just leave them alone in the wild, especially roos (although they’ll hop away long before you get near one). Also kangaroos are considered a big pest in farming areas and are shot en masse, probably doesn’t fit the image too well.

Do you see that a lot? Say someone like Mayo references “middle tier guy x” at 15% and popular, do you ever see the number grow based on fishes skimming towards the “hot play”?

I don’t think any one guy moves the needle but many use the same datasets and key stats so they land on the same guys and of course as touts (or blowhards) they make those “top plays” known to everyone who will listen or click.

Then the DFS public who would have had zero or 5% of a guy suddenly gets FOMO (fear of missing out) and panic adds this guy at 15-20% ownership in their pool now the touted player reaches double digit ownership in the field.

Or you have the narrative touts who are talking up EVR this week because he played at UMinn. Well these same touts brought you Bo Hoag and a MC at the Workday because his grandpa knew Jack and Bo got to play there a bit when he was younger. Bo went MC and T62 the past two weeks on the course he knew so well !!

Of course they have the talent.

But say taking DJ forces you to take someone at 6.2k (insert scrub name here at that price).

You have the ability to swap DJ for… Bubba (who has shown he can win). So is the Bubba/DJ discrepancy in overall talent worth the risk of rostering a 6.2k guy when you can get bubba, save the 1.6k, and roster someone like Vegas/Moore/Rodgers who have proven they can finish big? Those guys seem more likely to make a cut, and that’s half the battle.

Again, I know it’s possible anyone can post numbers. I’m just wondering if any build is more likely to win historically.

Anyone else using the best putter on tour this week Denny Mac?

  • timusbr

    edit@joeltimb
your askin the right questions and I dont have the answer your looking to get.

I would say…If you think its a playoff Sunday between DJ and fleetwood, you got to eat the salaries(22K) and the chalk. If your gambling on 4 guys @ 28K . You need your studs to finish up top. However you think them winning is not so certain, then going down in salary to the guys you think have a chance at winning is the better play. and multiple entry lets you take different paths.

edit; I also played Tiers and the choices for T1 are Brooks DJ and Fleetwood. Damn if I know who to pick. It came to picking the dog with the least fleas IMHO. I believe they are the elite but I speak in negative terms about all. I went 100% DJ but 0 on any in classic.

    Hey there Mr. Biff,
Who is at the low end that needs a good week to keep their card? KF aggressive guy that wants to be here? And the Euro that needs the points?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Anybody outside 100th or 110th in points likely needs a Top 30 or better (if outside the Top 125) over the next few weeks.

Not sure I can name names as everyone wants to play well and get the free Fed Ex playoff money.
