    Hey Grinders,

Thanks for all of your feedback over the past few days on how we could improve our premium offerings. Our team has been following JM’s forum post closely, and discussing ways we could improve. – After talking it through, we feel we needed to do a better job of communicating and organizing updates to articles, after they are posted. Particularly in a week-long sport, such as NFL, a lot can change between the time an article is posted, and the time when your DFS lineups lock. – With that in mind, here are new policies we’ll be applying to RotoGrinders Premium content starting with NFL Week 9:

NFL Premium Content: Weekly Update Policies

Every RotoGrinders premium column will now fit into one of three categories. Each article will clearly label which category it falls into, in the article header:

Consensus Value RankingsCVR now has an update policy. All rankers must do a minimum of one update to their $/Point player rankings between the hours of Saturday at 2 PM EST and Sunday at 11 AM EST, even if the update is just to say “I stand by my initial picks”. However, rankers are now encouraged to update their rankings multiple times throughout the week. – We are also discussing an automated time stamp and tracking log, so you can see who updated and when.

Updated Articles – These are articles that tend to focus on “specific picks,” more than general strategies. Any written premium articles will fall into one of two categories: “Updated” or “Non-Updated”. Updated articles will now contain a new section at the bottom of every article, called “Updates”. The writer of the article will update this section between the hours of Saturday at 2 PM EST and Sunday at 11 AM EST. This update will contain any removals from original article, any new inclusions, and any other strategy notes they feel are relevant and helpful to include. – This will be similar to the format used by Notorious, in his PGA Expert Picks column (pictured below):

Non-Updated Articles – These articles fall more into “general strategy” than “specific picks”. These premium columns will not be updated after their initial posting, and will be clearly disclaimed as such.

Note: PGA will follow a similar policy, adapted to PGA.

NBA & MLB Premium Content: Daily Update Policies

Consensus Value RankingsCVR now has an update policy. All rankers must do a minimum of one update to their rankings by 6 PM EST, even if the update is just to say “I stand by my initial rankings”. However, rankers are now encouraged to change their rankings as much as possible. – We are also discussing an automated time stamp and tracking log, so you can see who updated and when.

Updated Articles – These are articles that tend to focus on “specific picks,” more than general strategies. Any written premium articles will fall into one of two categories: Updated or Non-Updated. Updated articles will now contain a new section at the bottom of every article, called “Updates.” The writer of the article will update this section, as needed, up until 6 PM EST. Since NBA & MLB are daily sports, this could often result in a “No Updates to Report”, type of post. We will still communicate that though. In general, this update will contain any removals from original article, any new inclusions, and any other strategy notes they feel are relevant and helpful to include.

Non-Updated Articles – These articles fall more into “general strategy” than “specific picks” (i.e. Jumpahoo’s Jump Shot). These premium columns will not be updated after their initial posting, and will be clearly disclaimed as such.

    ____________________________________________________________

Overall, the main goal here is better communication & organization, of how updates are applied to RotoGrinders Premium. These new update sections should allow writers to express their thoughts, when players they listed are no longer considered to make their actual DFS lineups, when they have discovered new players they want to use who were not listed in their original article, or other new stategic information presents itself, that the author feels like sharing.

Don’t forget, we also have our totally free DFS Alerts app for both iPhone and Android. Our team of news writers work throughout the day to get you direct push alerts wheneve urgent news breaks. – This is not a part of RotoGridners Premium, because it is free, but is essential to keeping up with timely news, while building your DFS Lineups.

Thanks again for the feedback, and we hope you enjoy this update to RotoGrinders Premium. As always, let us know if you have any thoughts by posting below!

Nicely done, guys. Unlike some entities in the industry, you acknowledged a problem, were receptive to feedback, and made immediate changes to ameliorate the issue. Much respect!

Good work. Now if you would only change the NBA rankings back to the way they were every thing would be good with the world again.

Well done. These are quality changes and I don’t think unreasonable to ask of the experts.

some NBA incentives feedback – it appears that the “Bargain Bin Ballers” column has been replaced by the “Scrubs” ECRs – while i don’t mind the new ECR system, i think we’ve lost some value in the Bargain Bin Ballers column where as it wasn’t just just players ranked, but offered some analysis on each player – like 2 at each position. Please consider bringing that back – it’s helpful for the days where I have very little time to research. I’m sure my fellow incentive members would agree?

    thanks!

I agree with this as well. As casual player, I miss the old format of premium articles. It was much quicker for a casual player.

Really appreciate the quick response on this. Great job, RG!

One issue/question I have in regards to the NBA CVR this year that I haven’t seen addressed anywhere else. With multi-position eligibility on DK, are all the ranking experts ranking players with two position eligibility at both positions? I ask because it looks like some are and some are not ranking multi-position players at both spots. I could see a player with SF/PF, for example, as #5 at SF but then not making the cut at PF, but I’ve seen a number of occasions with a player as a top 1/2 play at one position and unranked on the other which seems less likely (e.g. look at Markieff Morris tonight) and probably skews the “consensus” aspect of the rankings. Ideally, I’d love to see all experts ranking multi-position players at both positions, but if nothing else it would be really helpful to know which ones are considering players at both positions and which are only looking to the primary position.

The ranking is now an automated process, and we can only rank the multi position players at ONE position. I promise you will no longer see them listed at both positions, as it is not possible with the new setup (this was not the case during the first week, when this was a manual process).

We are now ranking the DK players with multiple positions at their “primary” position based on where FanDuel has them (unless DK has them at a totally different position). It’s the only workable solution that makes sense.

I occasionally look at the NBA rankings when I play to make sure I am not missing anyone I should be considering and I tend to agree with this. The stars, scrubs, contrarian approach just seems like too much and easily confusing to anyone who reads them.

Right now it also seems like these rankings are a little arbitrary on the definition of a star, scrub, contrarian, etc. I even see guys being listed by one person as a star but another person as a scrub or listed in both groups but the consensus ranks them differently. For example, SG today with Sean Kilpatrick, Wesley Matthews, and Kent Bazemore.

I understand what you were going for (readers are less likely to just straight play the consensus rankings) but in my personal opinion, it does not really work. Maybe if you want to have different tiers of rankings format it more like the PGA rankings by price point? Even something as simple as $6k and greater and less than $6k would make it a lot easier for readers to decipher as the categories are defined and guys would not show up in both. Just my opinion/feedback.

Yeah, the rankings were a great guide. I used them same as yourself, just a scan through to see if I had missed anybody but I basically find them totally useless as this point. I have already started a separate thread about this so I’m not going to labour the point but I think the format they use for football is perfect
