I’m a huge college football fan and really enjoyed DFS last year. With it likely gone, what other alternatives are there out there for those who like to do something during the season? Aside from weekly “pick em” games at Yahoo and ESPN, I’d be interested in something – even with zero money involved – just to make it more fun.

One idea I mentioned in a thread is the idea of a small league of 10-12 people where we’d each select 10 teams in a draft , and then follow them through the season…with no team getting picked more than twice.

I’ve been hoping that somehow some site out there would do college, but for now that doesn’t seem to be the case…unless I missed something.

I’m still lost on the CFB / CBB college sports thing.

What federal law was changed or what not that caused CFB/CBB to all of a sudden become ILLEGAL? I know some school and a few players tried to sue either DK or FD or maybe it was both claiming a bunch of BS….never did hear if anything came of that

Federal law has nothing to do with it.

Aces for example, still has a CFB tab on their contest pages….if the decision has been made, I’d think they would have done the same as DK and FD and removed it. But they haven’t….so I think a statement of fact like the above is a bit premature and misleading……

I think I recall someone saying they emailed Aces support and the response they got was that Aces would most likely not be offering college football this upcoming season.

I tend to agree with depalma. I do not think we will see CFB or CBB again due to many states including the no amateur sports offerings in their legislature.

No laws changed. FD/DK made a deal with the NCAA that they would no longer offer CFB or CBB contests. This was all done to try to gain some political favor in state legislatures and get the NCAA off their back (avoid any possible lawsuits the NCAA may have tried to file).

At this time CFB and CBB are only ILLEGAL in the states that have passed DFS laws that include the no amateur sports contests clause. But I think we will continue to see this clause in many state laws going forward.

Yep, we were stabbed in the back by FD and DK. Irrational paranoia has triumphed thus far over rational thought, as any lawsuit by the NCAA against the sites would be frivolous. A very positive, fun endeavor has likely been destroyed for no good reason. The only sliver of hope, is that the press release back in March stated that college football and basketball offerings have been “suspended”. That leaves open a slight, albeit highly unlikely window for the return of CFB. I intend to contact FD support on this issue in mid-August to see what they have to say.

I really think the only way we see college DFS again is if sports betting is made legal across the United States (although I think we are heading in this direction I do not think it is going to happen very quickly due to continued pushback from the NFL and NCAA mainly). But at that point their already stupid argument against DFS would really have no merit.

Fan of your work before…it is a sad time. I also know from history founding Fantasy College Blitz in 2005, DK and FD gave up their fight with NCAAF because it was not a big money maker for them.

Inefficient market for players like us? Yes. Money maker for the sites????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I hope some how, some way Fantasy Feud keeps NCAA. (Of course DK/FD too)
