I’m sure I’m not the only one sick and tried of the NBA equallying shitty night after shitty night of under performing soft players and late scratching for “rest”. I know variance is a big part of DFS in general but is anyone really winning anything significant other than the handful of players who can afford to play 150k in entries every night. I am officially done with NBA this season and may not come back to this sport in terms of DFS ever.

I’m sure no one gives a shit about my rant but I imagine there are thousands out there just like me that see DFS going downhill at a very fast pace.

It’s the same for all sports the last few weeks people lose interest in the NBA and NHL players are waiting for MLB to start

  • tonytone1908

I actually can’t wait for the playoffs to start. Usually my best time of year for some reason. Maybe with lots of people focusing on baseball which is fine with me, I get slaughtered in MLB for the first month so I usually don’t even bother. Maybe just throw one in for fun on my Cubbies in a short slate. Might be easy for me this year, just stack the Cubs whenever possible?

  • SkateFiend

It’s hard to win in NBA because everyone will chase the same punts and combos. And with all the frequent resting one day DFS stars are born almost every day. If Vucevic misses a game, 20-30% of the field will be on Biyombo, if not more. If Chris Paul sits, Austin Rivers will be popular punt. So on and so forth. There are dirt cheap players everywhere who could rise the occasion if given 30 minutes.

Which is why I think there should be 2 center positions, or possible 2 SG / SF positions. You have to force players to spend money to bolster talent thin positions.

its sad that literally 10 players can ruin a whole industry for everyone, go check out this past week top 100 on the fd shot every day it’s the same people last night papagates everywhere in top 100 day before his brother, not a single player in top 100 that does not have a star next to name

I 100% agree, some of us don’t have 12 hours a day and self built algorithms to helps us, but hey that’s DFS I guess. Just think I’m taking a break due to the fact that it used to be fun and now it’s just night after night of frustration.

Why do you even expect to win? all you do is come on this site to complain dude. You’re posts are becoming laughable because its literally you crying about a pro beating you. They’re PRO’s, of course their going to beat you. You’re only mad because you expect to win, when in reality, you’re not going to beat those guys. Once you realize that, maybe DFS will become more enjoyable for you

  • Njsum1

Even with all the nonsense, NBA is still my favorite sport for DFS. Just keep in mind, that everyone has to deal with that same nonsense equally. so while I understand it can be frustrating and annoying, no one has an advantage due to late scratches and underperforming players. That’s just me, but if it’s just not for you anymore, ok, everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion.

But yet I get warnings for calling him out on his never ending whining. If you hate DFS so much, don’t play. If you think the whole industry is rigged and run by the illuminati, don’t play. Geez

I usually don’t post on NBA threat but I had to chime in on your comment which resonated with me. I have played all 4 major DFS sports at times; NBA is far and away my most hated. I finally gave up trying months ago, for the same reasons you stated. Too much of the game comes down to being on top of those late scratches/substitutions. I’m sure there is skill involved, but to me, it just seemed like the game was reduced to whoever happens to be sitting by their computer at the last minute to swap in WIllie Reed and Frank Kaminsky after the late scratches are announced. So not fun. I tried out NHL as a substitute, and it’s been no turning back. I’ve won more in NHL than in football and basketball combined, and I didn’t even follow hockey before this season. I’ve even become a fan of the game as a result of DFS.

For me it’s NHL and MLB from here on out. I’d like to try golf at some point, too, but Yahoo doesn’t offer it.

  • feekdogg

I should probably quit, but Fanduel will give me an additional 10,000 FD points if I play every day in March. Lose $50 for a “free” $4? I’d be stupid not to do it.

I played NHL during the NBA All-Star break and actually did ok even though I know absolutely nothing about hockey, I just followed a few touts. I may jump back into NHL until MLB starts which is by far my favorite sport in general, let alone DFS. I know we can all gripe about the pro’s till the cows come home and I know it will never change but when its not fun anymore, that’s when I walk away which I’ve done with NBA.

I just wish DK could make the small slates (2-3 games) 20 entries or throw in a few single entry contests. I don’t have the time to do a lot of research or the bankroll to 150x. I love playing and throwing a few bucks in every day but it just feels like burning money most of the time.

  • Mindofigor

There should be beginner leagues you can join and play against players who are fairly new to dfs. If you have been around for a long time and still losing, then you may want to change your approach on how to make sharper lineups. There are tools available that could drastically help you — depends how serious you are at getting better and how much time and commitment you are willing to put into this.

  • NESBears120

if you’re not a pro take dfs for what it is a hobby, I play dfs on nights I have time, and it’s something to do to keep me out of trouble, I know I’m not a pro and I know I don’t put the same amount of time in that they do, yes they may play a ton more lineups than we do but they also do double the research we do, they also depend on it as a livelihood, expecting the same results the pros get while putting in half the work isn’t going to cut it, so take dfs for what it is for most of us a hobby

  • PhoFever

I might be stating the obvious here, but you don’t always have to enter gigantic contests aiming for the huge payout. Don’t know how DraftKings and stuff are, but Yahoo has head-to-heads, single entries and 10-man contests galore that totally change the nature of the beast.

  • Vitricate

Variance kicks up during the last part of the season as to be expected with players getting shut down/rested/not taking games serious due to being in the lottery etc. I’ve gotten good enough this season to still have success picking up the “End-Season” trends so i’m not being effected from it. But I can understand other peoples frustrations as i’ve struggled in previous years. I Cant wait for MLB though soon

A thread that involves more bitching and whining? Yay! Just what we need!

  • Taterchipdip

I love NBA DFS. I stopped playing it about two weeks ago though. Without late swap at DK the end of the NBA season is a nightmare, and I dont like throwing away money when I dont have to. Ill be back at NBA October 2017. Hurry up DK put up some MLB tournaments already!

So why do you spend time reading threads you don’t like?

  • California_Cool

If you don’t like playing against pros and their max entry lu’s stick to single entry tourneys. Its on you to do the research with fair odds.. Also, the first 2 rounds of the playoffs are the best imo. The minutes are stabalized, no one healthy sits, and everybody plays balls out. I’ve always gone into the black by the end of the season because of the playoffs.

Easier said then done, when the top 10 guys are winning those night and night out. Sooner or later its just going to be pros passing money around because the fish will die off.

  • IronMonkey415

Nah…I’ll continue to play every day and cry every night before bed.

It’s almost like the guys that finish high consistently are good at this.

I hate to seem like the old fart that’s bitching about the entitled millennial but that’s what you seem like. Want a big reward without putting in the hard work.

Yes, the gigantic, bigger-than-ever GPPs that fill every single day are surely a sign of DFS’ rapid descent.

They have single entry contests every day to fit any budget.
