Are any of the Daily fantasy sites planning on doing season long fantasy football Leagues?

I think it would be awesome if sites like Fanduel, Draftsreet, or any other site would do season long fantasy leagues. We pretty much all play season long leagues, why not play them on the sites we play daily for less rake? It could be easy money for the sites, and would be awesome for us daily players. Hopefully one of the hundred or so daily sites out there can step up to the plate and do it for this upcoming football season.

Or you could just play in our RG league PT420.

If you win I can get you a bong-shaped trophy.

    Woooo!

KC – Cam mentioned about doing a football league. Maybe we can do similar to the Fanduel Originals baseball league.
I’d be for a season long, since every Sunday night usually ends in tears once I pull up my teams…

This will actually be year 2 for football.

    TaxiMike won it last year

I know that more than one of the sites was considering this but said they could not get it going in time for this year. I am sure you will see many do it next season though.
If you are looking for a great seasonal site to play on try iconfantasysports.com It is run by one of the daily players iconjoe. Most of the top names in the seasonal contests have gathered there. Fantasy Taz, logan price, the draftanalyzer.com crew and Joe himself was a 3 time player of the year.

Season-long leagues could be in the future plans, but one big issue is that transactions would be pretty tough to allow without having the potential for collusion/cheating. A season-long league without any transactions could still be doable, but might be less appealing. I suppose it could be possible to have a system where add/drops were possible, but trading would be tough.

The majority of Contests on the seasonal sites are no trades but they do allow add/drops. Even in leagues that do allow for trades they are almost never approved by the others in the league no matter how even.

How freaking hard is it to just do a season long league where you redraft every week using the new salary each week, OMG I would play like $5,000 worth of these leagues. Scores are cumulative throughout the season and pay out based on total years point total.

You could still have HU, 3 man, 6 man, 10 man, 20 man, 100 man…whatever with different buyins. It’s the ultimate repeat business, as the players will have to sign in each week to set it, and while they are on the site, they will probably play weekly games as well.

This is a killer idea, especially because it is realistic for a daily site to execute.

Building a typical season-long platform is an enormous task. I don’t see any fantasy site building one in the next couple years. It may be possible to white label something already built from a site like RTSports, but that seems like a stretch with all the resources being devoted to daily league development.

Brit’s idea seems pretty simple to execute since it uses much of the existing game structure. Looks like a lot of fun, too. With only a month and a half to spare there’s no way a site could pull it off this year, but maybe next?

Totally agree. Great idea and shouldn’t be too difficult to implement.

Would be cool to have a private league like that, kind of like what Pokerstars did when they launched Home games.

Not only that but id pay the 5-10% rake to do this no problem, and i know all my buddies would to, eliminates the hassle of collecting money/paypal and all that in a legit fashion….and everyone is on equal footing, who cares if someone gets injured, you have a clean slate next week.

No worrying about who has that 1st waiver wire pick, or arguing about trades…If a site implements this this year, they will get an absolute ton of traffic from the yer long fantasy guys.

Its the perfect combo of season long/daily fantasy for football. Not to mention you could also start them week 2, 3, 4, etc for the remainder of the season. So simple no idea why its not out there yet

DS and maybe others already had multiple day NBA games for playoffs, just extend the code or whatever foe the full 17 games of NFL.

1st site that does this should hook me up, because I just gave you the best new idea to get a mass influx of new customers

i would be a fan of the survivor style season long game – thought at least one site had this i.e. pick a player only once and can’t pick him again…….

Check out fuzzysfantasyfootball.com — Reliable payouts, decent rake, good software, big and small money year long leagues.

  • mrathburn

Most of the high stakes season long leagues do not allow trading and handle transactions through FAAB (free agent auction bidding) so there are no issues of collusion.

I would prefer to see better Live Sit n Drafts for the masses and/or live Auction Drafts before Season Long options….but all 3 would be great!

The sites might not even be able to take reduced-to-zero rake for these as they could get the time value of money for holding a ton of money all season…

oh and can’t wait for ROOGSLAFFLE 2012! I will be hiring Barro as my fantasy team doctor this season in an attempt to have an under-40% injury rate for my team this year and take it down.

Any sites offer a season long (or even monthly) contest where you can only use each player one time all season?

Brought this idea up to a site owner or two in the past…I love the ideas, but as a Week 1 marketing tool only. It would draw a lot of people to the Daily Game, get some excitement for Week 1, and even draw people back to that site as the season progresses.

Overall, I don’t love the idea of Season-Long + Daily at the same time right now, b/c I think it makes marketing too confusing. The Daily game still needs to be perfected, and better communicated to the average fantasy player as is, before we confuse them with a less viable, season-long product.

I see novelty/marketing value in season-long leagues, but the more we talk about it, the less I think I’d invest in season-long leagues if the daily sites offered them.

STILL – A mock draft lobby for NFL season would crush it! Just knowing you could come in, at any time, and get a 12-man snake draft for the week would be so sick.

I was thinking more along the lines of it being one contest with one buy in but you would still select a new line up each week and couldnt use the same player twice. Similar to the King Richard Survivor on Daily Joust where each day you pick a new team.

Season long leagues at least in my mind means the same team each week.

  • jouster1

These are now being offered on Daily Joust, both season long fantasy football leagues and season long survivor leagues. Pick a new lineup each week.

Nice job DJ, now make it available for smaller BI’s, and different leagues, I cant make a custom $10 league to put in your lobby right now

If I want to play some HU all season, I should be able to….or in a 3 man, or 6 man, or even a 100 man………seriously get them going.

If I want to play for $5, $10 or $20, I should be able to…..$100 isnt in everyone price range, make them available for every price range/number of entrants…I will deposit right away to the first site that has all the options, and direct some of my year long leagues to you.

The first site that has these available with all different BI’s/ # of entrants will get some of my $$$$ for sure.

Seriously, Get some 100 person $5 or $10 season long leagues up already people !

    5% rake too, really nice.
