      RG Overall Ranking

Arnold Palmer Invitational….. presented by MasterCard

Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, FL • Purse: $6,300,000

DK running a $33 GPP 100k to first. I wonder if they will go back to the $3 100k to first at some point.

I am too, but what are we talking about?

  • JimKronlund

I have Palmer at the top as well but I am seeing more and more of his name coming up as fade.
This was from a golf writer. Jeff Babineau from Golfweek magazine.
Fade (player to avoid): Ryan Palmer. He’s got the right name, but he hasn’t had much success at Bay Hill, making but one cut in six starts, and failing to make it to the weekend in each of his last five starts. Making first appearance at Arnie’s Place since 2012 (MC).

Edit: I decided I am going with Moore and very small exposure to Palmer.

  • sneaksox

Finau has to make a cut at some point, right?

Has anyone watched him this year? What’s his deal right now? I’ve seen him throw up some duds when he’s spraying his driver all over the course, but has his short game been equally as terrible this year? I’m just thinking if he scales back his drives this week, maybe it could be a good week to take a flier on him at that insanely low price in GPPs.

In my spreadsheet, Palmer is up near the top (better), and Moore is down near the bottom (worse).
Not sure that’s worth anything, but that’s what I have.

Was it Palmer’s great course history of 4 Missed Cuts, 1 WD and 6 Did Not Play’s in the last 11 years at Bay Hill to go with a 24th place finish 12 years ago that has him near the top of your list ?

LOL – I’m guessing it is his 7 straight cuts made this year and his lower than normal price of $7700 that has you on him.

I didn’t roster Palmer as his course history scares me – Palmer hits a draw on basically every shot and probably one of the most pronounced of any player on tour – my personal feeling is that Bay Hill is not a great right to left course (and has a lot of water on left side of some key scoring holes); normally players like to aim at the trouble and work the ball away from it – so I wonder if this course does not suit his game or suit his eye and that is why he has had little success here ? Just my 2 cents

Does anyone know a good twitter PGA list which I can follow?

Yes Bif, pretty obvious now. Not sure why I or how I came to that choice. Thank you.
I remember reading that a lot of American players are not playing for the very same issues you stated. “needing to go left to right”.
Here is your 2 cents back. Well worth it, probably saved me a ton of $$$ & grief.

Palmer is a world class player, not Top 10 but definitely top 50-75 so can have a great performance any week so I could be way off, but I know as a competitive amateur golfer myself how I feel about some courses (absolutely love the look and fit for me) and others that I fuk’n hate. Most top 100 players on tour can pick and choose where they play and set their schedules accordingly relative to travel and course preferences. Anytime I see a guy (inside Top 75-100) miss the same event multiple years in a row, it raises a red flag for me. Was Ryan Palmer really busy with other commitments the past 3 years ? Or did he just not want to play that f’n Bay Hill course ? And is he only playing this year because Arnie’s health is slipping and there is some sort of respect/sentimental connection there ? It’s all speculation on my part but I’d feel more comfortable grabbing a guy who has played here (and preferably well) in recent years, played the course in different weather conditions recently and has seen the course changes the past 2 years (one of a golfers best strengths is their memory).

Anyone have any thoughts on Bud Cauley for GPPs? He has quite a bit of experience at the course between college and pros, and had a 4th place finish in 2012. He’s only played 3 PGA tournaments in the last 10 weeks with solid results at 2 of the 3. What’s the reason for him not playing more often?

Only considering him for GPPs as he seems like he has a lot of upside compared to other guys in the $6k range. Does he have as much upside as what I’m thinking?

Cauley doesn’t have full status on tour (or he is low on priority ranking) as I often see him on the Alternate list at most events – usually about 6 spots deep – guessing that is why he didn’t play many events.

You are right on everything you say – because he is a shorter hitter, he doesn’t see much fantasy love as a result.

You stated “as a competitive amateur golfer myself, I feel about some courses (absolutely love the look and fit for me) and others that I fuk’n hate”.
I picked up on your unique knowledge base before and assumed that you had hands on experience. The knowledge you have about courses and how certain players excel or not. Is an invaluable tool here. I know some tour players I will not name, but they are zero help to me as I do not bother them with any fantasy questions.
I am a former 30 year athlete myself with an education background that included psychology (and Business). I use that a great deal here on fantasy, and it definitely helps. Still, using this skill set in a new way, needs a learning curve… and access to a knowledge base unique like yours is highly valuable. So I appreciate how free you are with it.

Thanks for the kind words but if Ryan Palmer wins this week and I talked you off 40 entries, you’ll change your opinion of how much you appreciate my free info – ha ha – I just state what puts me on/off a golfer and how you use/interpret is up to you.

Finau is terrible on Bermuda greens.

Avg finishing position on Bermuda 65.5
Avg finishing position on Bentgrass 39.8

Avg DK points on Bermuda 52.3 pts
Avg DK points on Bentgrass 66.4 pts

    Cut % on Bermuda 45.5%
    Cut % on Bentgrass 81.0%

% of putts made 5-10 feet on Bermuda 42.6%
% of putts made 5-10 feet on Bentgrass 61.2%

His terrible start to this season looks similar to 2015.

No worries Bif. After I make a decision it is mine and mine alone. No matter the path I took to get there.
It is our duty to ourselves to use critical thinking skills. That makes the final decision our own.

Thanks. I’m not in love with him, but Vegas and Swafford are the only other guys who interest me in that area.

I have some of each of those two (Vegas and Swafford) as both hit it far and a few extra birds/Eagles make all the difference in scoring – of course, a made cut is first priority.

Edit – I also played Davis Love as my only under 6K punt as he seems to make a lot of cuts and has decent course history given his salary; I just couldn’t pulled the trigger on Finau

Hey am in. this is a line up I picked. my other line ups are picked by a random number generator I will add one of those if you need some more players ?

  • mgravity

Ok, I don’t know how this works ? I was trying to reply to JimKronlund.

  • mgravity

Again I do not know how this works but this seems to be a very clunky format to this forum. All this new stuff should show up first.?

  • mgravity

Anyone going to answer me or is this as screwed up as I think?

  • Nodak

lol there’s nothing wrong with the forum. If you want to reply to an individual, you must quote link and reply from their message.

    Danny Lee tweeted this today
“everyone I gonna be ok this week! hitting it good! I’ll try to make it up to all my fan for last week!”

Best part was Colt Knost’s reply calling him a Quitter
