the thing about golf compared to other sport is that its very easy to calculate close to everyone’s exact chances of winning,top5, top10, making cut, etc… and its super easy to access that information…..which leads to ownership that is pretty correctly dispersed by the larger players…. so so by the time you factor in the rake practically everyone is over-owned relative to their chances of smashing…

its super fun so i cant stop playing but in the long term its not a great sport for profitability…very small edges compared to other sports where people are just stabbing randomly like anything can happen even though theres really a pretty small contigent of good plays most nights

I would say your comments are geared toward basketball, not golf. It’s easier to predict minutes, points etc in basketball than it is to predict birdies, eagles and finish place in golf.

Truer words have never been spoken. Whoever wins showdown, truly a luckbox day

Now now – I have a good one brewing with some pretty predictable guys – even Rodgers has good history here and has been playing decent coming in

    RCB -7
    Rodgers -4
    Bryson Even
    An -1
    Rory +1
Thompson +3 (thanks to a triple)

Lots of holes left and steadily moving up

These last two weeks with all the bogies

  • mitchsnyderdfw

Billy Ho near ace. 16” from the hole.

  • philthefox

  • Pbasniper

Rory and Marc have the 2 easiest holes left both par 5’s but will somehow both manage to fart along with pars.

Bif, what did you see in the keegan play this week? Good call… ive used a decent amount of him in the past but not great results (other than his cut safety streak which is nice) …. it seems like he always falls apart on the weekend so i gave up on him a few weeks ago

Makes cuts, hits greens and has been pretty steady – putting not as bad as it once was too

Optimizers and “optimal lineups” are much more of an issue to the other sports where projection models do a really good job of picking out the best plays. My response was really more talking about the other sports and DFS as a whole.

PGA is one of my favorites to play since I don’t think stats matter as much since if you just go 100% by a stat model and run the optimal projections you probably won’t be as tough to beat as you would be in a sport like NBA or MLB where stat models out there can dominate someone working on their own.

Gotcha – yea, golf is tough. Just have to pick a strategy that feels go for you, and stick with it – it will win some and lose some – grind it out for hopefully one big one

Oh yah – I have shares of Laird and Werenski both +5 but I was referring to guys that were talked about and chalkier like JB, Li, Si woo, Mats, Stenson

I’m assuming it changed from when you posted it. Mats actually had a good day seeing as he was +3 for most of it.

Scoring higher than most of the guys at -2

For weeks – WEEKS – I was afraid to click Billy Ho’s name. Finally did this week. Glad I did, so far

Is there a law of physics or universal maxim that guarantees that a guy who wrecks your week will play very well the following week if you fade him?

Billy Ho is the only thing I got right this week and he’s only like 3% owned. Unfortunately the other 5 guys on my lineup are like a combined +15

  • Pbasniper

@Skratch on twitter has the Phil swing and his step of shame over the fencing, man I laughed so hard.

Yup, it’s called variance and results oriented thinking. A lot of times a guy is a good pick one week (strong recent form, likes the green type, etc.) and then the following week could be a very similar style course and yet everybody back off him because he missed the cut the week before when really they should be going right back to him since he was a good pick the week before, just might’ve had some bad variance

Probably which is why I fully expect Jason Day to win The Players next week just because that’s what he does when he says he is hurt.

Probably my best day one in PGA ever, but I know theres unfortunately 3 days left lol. About 45/75 lineups in the top 10,000….many in the top 1000, highest is currently 6th. All my SE & 3-max are cashing too lol……HOLDDDD

  • MrBreeze

$44 Twirl, have 4 golfers under par and Rickie & H Li, already sweating tomorrow

  • EhhTimmay

Whoever said people with Olesen have a pretty good shot at showdown win… lol.

Guy won’t even make the cut after starting 3/4.
