I heard Rickie Fowler wants to win this week. That might surprise people after his fail at the honda

  • JimKronlund

dangasin and Tim tell me if this works or too late.
I can enter in his place and he can tell me his picks. I am not concerned about the $2. I’d rather see him enjoy what he clearly loves and is being admirably responsible by adhering to his limits.
What ever I/we win. He will get 100% of it.

  • MrBreeze

Well, here we are again on Tuesday and roster prognosticating has begun. The last 3 weeks have been disastrous for the Breeze man.

Here is a l/u building strategy I am considering this week. Find ONE CORE GOLFER that is in 100% of builds. Obviously someone who has the best chance to make the cut at a good price (holy grail), but my thinking has been polluted by too many 5/6 & 4/6, and if I rotate 20 golfers with the core guy across 20 lineups everyone is around 20% owned (check my math) 100 spots divided by 20 = 5 l/u’s p golfer or 20%. I guess my idea is, if I am going to miss cuts and 6/6’s so be it, but if I hit with my core and 10/20 make the cut , that gives me at least 5 6/6’s which will be about 100% ROI with a much better chance of going into the black for the week.

Does any of that make any sense? I am only half way through my first cup of coffee this morning.

That’s mighty admirable. I hope it’s not too late because I’m rooting for him now.

I think that makes sense I guess. I suppose you’ll be overweight on a few and under on others. I’d have been happier if I were only 20% An last week as opposed to the 45% that I had. With the way shit has been, good luck picking one guy to make the cut. That’s the only issue I see, but I guess I can never really pull the “all-in” trigger. Ugh…

  • nicholasmarsh

Is it time to pull the trigger on Tiger in the #OAD? I might want to use him now in case he ends up broken again. Does he have a better track record at any other event?

Not sure – this course is very different than the last two so I need to put over some stats to see if I like the fit. I know 2 people at the tourney this week for practice rounds so waiting for some on the ground intelligence as well to course setup, etc…

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but apparently the disaster at the last few holes really hurt Sam last week and he now has to finish Top 7 in this tournament in order to gain the special exemption status and unlimited sponsor exemptions for the rest of the season, so it will be an interesting narrative to follow this week. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/late-stumble-at-innisbrook-puts-sam-burns-plans-to-join-pga-tour-on-hold-for-now

That is a nice gesture of you to try and help someone out like that. Not judging as I don’t know everyone’s situation financially but I am confused why someone would commit to play a contest without having the $6 available to cover the first 3 rounds of group play (assuming you advance I would think you cover future entries with winnings from earlier rounds). I think it is a great contest that Tim is running and it is not easy to do trying to manage making sure all the contests go off with all correct 4 people in them. I applaud him for putting the time and effort to manage all of that for the next few months as the contest goes on.

It doesn’t really sounds like anybody is up or reading yet, but I’m beginning to break down the field relative to pricing and don’t think I want Kevin Na anymore. Despite what I think is a good play based on recency bias, I still don’t want him on my team(s) given other options in that DK price range. The pricing is, indeed, soft this week… #NahToTheNa

I’m assuming you’re referring to me but you don’t have to do that. I deposited a little bit and I’m in. Appreciate the kind gesture, though

Love my lineup…. is it Thursday yet?

Can I quote you on Thursday @ 4p.m.? Do you want to add the 3 names you didn’t play, but almost did to that team ? Or give us two of them…

I have made my Single bullet, 6 times now… Had to back away, usually it is a MONDAY quick play and stick to it all week.

  • astauty

im going stars and scrubs which i almost never do…
Mats/Fleet/Noren plus 3 scrubs. lets hope it pans out.

We need some type of weekly (one man name drop) per person…
Could be : My MC pick
    “ Best play
    “ A sweat for sure
    “ Makes cut for sure
    “ Etc.

  • Quadhole

Anyone else giving An a pass for last week ?

    Me. Along with Laird.
Both were trending nicely before Valspar. Tossing out last week and hoping for a bounce back from An/Laird

    Thanks. You too.

I have a question about the World Cup of golf contest. Maybe you can answer it. It’s probably a dumb question. If you finish 1-2nd, the prize money will go to the next round when you advance? And if you finish 3-4, you’re out of the contest and don’t advance? Just making sure so I know if I have to set aside another $2 or something because I wanna do a single bullet GPP and maybe several .25 cent satellites to try and land some Masters milly tickets. I’m gonna need BIF to tell me his secrets on accumulating so many milly tickets though lol

  • Quadhole

How in the World did Gamez get an Invite ? No way that guy should be here, wasted spot for someone

Good question… There are 72 entrants. Hm.

This is what Tim posted in the World Cup of Golf forum:

Just a reminder 18 groups of 4 play 3 weeks running.
first gets 3 pt, second gets 2, third gets 3 and fourth 0
These points count for who wins the group. in case of ties DK points will be tiebreaker
DK points will accumulate for wildcard spots.
The top 14 (wildcards) accumulated 3 week DK points total will move on to KO round
All group winners will be seaded by point total and the wildcards will follow irregardless if they are higher than the group winner.

EDIT: Winner from each group, then 14 wildcards. There are 18 groups so that gets us to 32. Makes sense to me!

There is 3 weeks of $2 per week 4-man contests within your group.

Each week you earn 3,2,1,0 points for 1st to 4th
Most points after the 3 weeks wins the Group and auto advances to round of 32 H2H knockout phase plus there are 14 Wildcards to be earned from the 18 groups based on total fantasy points from the 3 weeks.

Regarding the $2; each of the first 3 weeks you are playing in a $2 50/50 contest so if you finish 1st or 2nd then you will return $3.60 from DK so you will either get that $3.60 or else lose $2 each of the 3 weeks.

If you make the 32, I think the H2H cost goes up a little to like $5 but if you make that far, you likely cash 2-3 times in the 4-man 50/50 so really you need the $6 to play the 3 weeks and then maybe $5 more as it goes to knock out stage for H2H.

Edit: no secret on Milly tickets other than I try to not enter a totally chalky lineup as in the $0.25 contest to win a $20 ticket means you need to finish in about the 1.2% so you usually need to have a very good lineup that is a bit different and is obviously 6/6. If someone is playing the $5 entry satellite they only need to finish in about top 18% so you can go a little more cash-lineup like where the $0.25 and $1 ones are more GPP like where you are trying to hit a top 1-5% spot to win a ticket.

  • darickc

Cool, thanks for the response. I’ll set aside $6. What do you win most of the tickets in? NBA? I’ve done fairly well recently in NBA
