for those that are members of Fantasy National Golf Club. Is it worth it?
with so much variance in golf, is it worth paying for a service?

I was a founding member, so I pay $120 a year or $10 a month $2.50 a week, so yeah it’s worth it to me. Like all services I have used, it mostly keeps you away from really bad plays, it’s not a tool you use glean a winner. Good for spotting trends, strengths and weakness’s. I would say the info from it is about 25% of my decisions. YMMV

Did anyone see much of Keith Mitchell last week? Saw a clip where he was waggling over his tee shot a lot akin to Sergio, also saw a tweet about him taking a while to make his address on the tee. Maybe just a small one week yips or has he always been very deliberate?

He was kinda doing the Dufner/Keegan/Cantlay approach to address the ball. Looking at the shot line 5-6 times while waggling and moving his feet.

In my opinion he was taking way too long to address and hit the shot.

Yeah I was thinking the same. From the few times I saw him last year on TV he didn’t seem to take that long. Definitely want to play him at his tag and his performance here last year but the ball address is a worry

Mike Miller also has a google sheet for the Qatar Masters up.

    https://twitter.com/SmartGolfBets/status/1234800442405801984

And LFN has a contest for it:

    https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/86575650

    Got my lineups done:
    Winner: George Coetzee
Fade: Martin Kaymer and Thomas Pieters (the two most expensive guys)
    Sleeper: Grant Forrest

P.S. There are still some spots left in LFN1992’s contest.

P.P.S.: The direct link to the google sheet:

tomorrow AM looks like the biggest advantage to avoid the worst of the winds in the afternoon – i hate stacking 6 guys in the same wave but it looks like that might be the pfd way to go

I hate what that does to ownership as 75% (or 450% of the possible 600%) of ownership will be in morning wave. You are left choosing between inflated morning chalk or an unknown/riskier tee time play at low ownership.

The problem ends up being that you are often only trying to avoid 1 day of tee time/wave disadvantage – does it end up being worth it (assuming your bad wave options still make the cut and have 3 other days of play) ?

    Thoughts on Brian Harman?

the wind forecast for tomorrow afternoon is pretty bad with sustained 20 mph winds and gusts much higher – the winds on friday look to very similar throughout the day and up north of 10mph so going low friday morning to make the cut might not be that viable of a strategy – i agree with you that the ownership will be much more tilted to the morning studs but it might be very difficult to avoid and have a good feeling about your lineup

Quick tee time stacking question for you guys. When building 150 Lineups what is the best way to tee time stack in HQ? For example, if I want 20% of my 150 to be AM/PM. Thanks for the tips.

    Weather-
On the other hand- You have to factor the people that will actually factor weather in choosing their golfers. I mean people in here will account for weather, but what number of casuals will even look at it? Its similar in football- On a real bad weather game you will still have ownership on guys, I believe that is from people who don’t even look at weather as opposed to picking players to be contrarian. Also, golf is a 2-4 day event as opposed to one 3 hour weather window. I dunno

Anything in particular about this course that will give Ancer a lot of trouble?

afternoon tee time on day 1 in the wind and 9 holes with water

But that’s the strength of his game and he is better than the majority of the field which has to deal with the same conditions. He is #1 in approach 200 yards this season

He was on my lineup last week and actually ended up outscoring Cauley (+5) and Tringale (+2) even though he finished at +6. His approach game was way off though. I won’t be playing him again this week.

Until the weather draw, I was all over him. Figured his +7 badly missed cut last year would have people off of him even at a very reasonable price. His game sets up well here (long enough and straight off the tee, good long irons), and he’s in a completely different/better place with his form/confidence than he was this time last year. Then the weather draw. Now, I’m on the fence.

Thanks. So if he can survive round one he should be looking good at suppressed ownership?

I’m still playing him.. I’m probably a donkey, but think I’m going to just make my lineups, and not worry about the weather.

  • BrianVT

Man, 3pm tomorrow is sustained winds of 21 mph and gusts up to 42 mph.

I might reduce my exposure a little bit for the pm/am guys, but I’m not going to let it drive my overall strategy too much.

  • monarch

To me it looks windy the entire time….all four days. The most severe wind may be tomorrow afternoon but this is also central florida and the weather can be extremely unpredictable any day of the year in the afternoon hours as we all know

  • Jeddy3

My strategy this week is if you’re elite and have a bad draw, I am playing you at the field ownership (Fleetwood, Deki, Bryson, & Leishman),. If you are a fringe player (Keegles and cockrack), I am cutting you. It is probably going to be the most popular build, but I’m rolling the dice that field isn’t that sharp.

  • ifthethunder

My weather thought: guys I want to play like Marc Leishman, I’ll play even with a 12:44 PM tee time. OTOH: value guys teeing off in the afternoon, why take the added MC risk? Also, I won’t be fading players like Rory and Adam Scott with early tee times.

This is exactly how I do it. I am not avoiding Leishman, GMac, etc.

Glover at 12:56pm is getting the axe from me. That was such a relieving feeling.

Yeah, he had an eagle and a streak, both of which were rare last week.

He also made three doubles. I’m gonna pass this week too.
