is this real, farce, or a combination?

Real. Which is why I said where I heard it and when today in case anyone wants to find it since the Gamez invitational is going on also this week among some of the people on here.

So Robert Gamez was on Inside the Ropes on the PGA channel on Sirius at 10:35 EST:

He’s “thrilled” having the PM/AM draw this week

Switched this past Sunday from the Callaway Maverick Driver to the new Cobra driver and is getting 20+ yards extra distance so far. He and his coach have been working on keeping his right foot planted through impact.

Didn’t make it to the fairway on 4 at the pro am as this was his first hole since it was a shotgun.

Fairways were wet and slow during the pro am Monday and yesterday. He has an afternoon practice today.

Rough is running between 3.5 – 4 inches around the course consistently. He believes the new sprinkler/watering system they put in reaches out further to get more consistency.

Greens were a little slower than he expected but figures they will roll them out more to get them up to speed.

If there was ever proof that the folks at Sirius read and follow this forum, this HAS to be it.

Got ya. Saw the Sirius info. Which is why I asked if it was a combo of reality and farce. And why I said I was leaning 100% real. Still not sure if it actually being on Sirius is funnier than if you had made it up, but thanks for the clarity!

On the plus side, set yourself a reminder to check back mid morning tomorrow as they usually post new bets for the afternoon tee times and with the winds kicking up we may be able to get good value on some unders

Long, Griffin, Wallace, Higgs, Nesmith in that order for me based on skill set and ownership

Hitting the rapid fires now. Love the 5/5 FP one. 3 out of 5 are morning vs. afternoon. Will hit afternoon more/less FP contests when posted.

No full tourney bets for me.

I did a handful of full tourney unders since they were set too high on fantasy points but I fully expect at least one guy to miss the cut and get refunded so totally understand if you don’t want to tie up any bankroll for 4 days on a likely push

Any ideas on how to quantify the wind advantage? 1 fp? 3 fps? 5 fps? Obv it’s not gonna be the same for every player, but any approximate guesses?

I think the only concern for wind is if the potential ~1 shot difference from AM to PM causes somebody to miss the cut or not. After that, the FPS difference once you’ve made the cut won’t be of much concern. Of course, there’s plenty of other ways someone can miss the cut by 1 or more strokes, but if there’s any wind angle to play, I think the cut is it.

This is the reason I had to take Glover out.

I would say that high winds are gonna put you offline on at least a couple holes. Most of the time that’s gonna change a par to a bogey but every once in a while it’s gonna ruin a birdie chance. I would guess that 20+ mph are probably going to cost you 1-3 strokes for most guys with that weighted towards pars becoming bogeys

  • lfn1992

Could someone with access post the Robert Gamez contest here? I may as well open it up. Just play by the rules, you have to play Gamez and his new Cobra driver that will put it 20+ yards deeper into the bunkers. Thanks

Still a handful of $1 beat the Dunzor h2hs available in the league lobby. If anyone wants a different dollar amount let me know or send me an invite

Interesting point, as pars to bogeys won’t cost too many points, but birdies to pars will. Also, some finishing points baked in there and of course, missing the cut is the worst disadvantage as Brian mentioned. Feels like it could end up being a pretty big fp advantage, assuming that the wind is indeed costing up to 3 strokes.

But then what BIF said is true too, there is so much variance in golf. A great golfer could still shoot 76 Thurs Morning and a not-so-great golfer could shoot 69 Thursday afternoon.

I put one in with the happy hour payout. Worth a shot even with point adjustments. You are correct though…they will all push. Not even entertaining a full tourney rapid fire. 10 guys all needing to make the cut. Yeah right…
