Kneed discomfort. Wonder what that means for the PGA Championship.

It’s too bad Golf Channel doesn’t have a camera crew following Monday qualifying. Potential for a 7 for 3 playoff this afternoon.

Did Villegas ever say why he W/D last week?

At least he didn’t pull a Webb Simpson.

Unrelated, but did you see this 13 yo who advanced through his local US Open qualifying?:

A former mobster attorney has now revealed what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. He’s buried under a green at the Savannah Country Club .

Finished 41st in the Free Entry contest for $60. I don’t do PGA very often so I took all my players from mentions here in the Forum. Thanks to all.

30 year old John Catlin who hasn’t played a PGA Tour event since 2019 is in the field. In the interim he’s become a bit of a star on the European Tour winning 3 times in the past year.
Must check with our resident European lfn1992 for details on his chances. I’m sure he’ll be cheap and low owned (but maybe for good reason)

Dude has been a scoring machine – and, at times, a bogey machine. He’d rip up an easy course like the Punta Cana. I’ll have to see how he matches up with this course.

PS. I played him last week in the Canary Islands

My problem with Jason Day is that he can never put together 4 good rounds. It’s always walking on eggshells with him, and you’re just waiting on the inevitable back pain, vertigo, or 3 to 5 over round to put him out of contention. He plays difficult courses well, where pars a good score because he’s a great bunker player, solid around the greens, and can at times be an elite putter. At a potential birdie fest course where the final score could be something like 18 to 20 under (based on reports), when’s the last time you’ve seen JDay go seriously low-low jones?

Edit- RemindMe! Thursday 6pm. when Jason Day is the day 1 clubhouse leader at 8-under lmao

I got the vaccine, no lines (2 people in front of me). I went shopping at the Jewel (robertsons), walked by the pharmacy and filled out the sheet, got stuck (J&J only need 1 shot) in 10 minutes.

    Is this Facebook?

    lol

I’m having scary thoughts about playing Richard Flower. Seems to play well at easy courses. Last little tune-up for PGA Championship and prove he belongs there.

  • jss1218

What comp courses are we looking at here? I know Weiskopf also designed Olympic but that was not a birdie fest course.

  • timusbr

    Twitter I think

I am seeing TPC Scotsdale as a good comp course for Craig Ranch. It is also a Weiskopf design.

I previously worked at this facility and probably played the course 75-100 times. During my time there, I can tell you the greens were very receptive to the point you’d have to watch your spin from 60 yards. Given that the greens are bentgrass, the only way to keep them alive in the Texas heat is to keep them soft and hydrated.

I typically played the tournament tees, which were a little under 7000 yards, but did tip it out a few times. While that was quite the test for me, I don’t perceive this course will play very difficult this week for these guys. The greens aren’t terribly difficult and there just isn’t a ton of trouble off the tee. The one caveat being I have not seen or played the course in years and there may have been some changes during that time.

I can tell you it was cold and windy during the 2010 Stage 2 Q School event, and the players did not have a whole lot of issues with the course then. Another tidbit; while I was there Ryan Palmer had the course record with a 61. Can’t wait to tune in, it should be a fun tournament for DFS.

I’m also just looking at other courses that are easy and long. You can probably throw in Trinity and TPC San Antonio, even though they are Bermuda greens.

Thanks for this great scouting report. I don’t know if RP will be chalk or not at $9.1k but I will certainly have some.

Tough time deciding who to take up top.. it seems like anyone can score at this course but you know one of the big dogs will likely top 10.. just a guessing game of who really. I suppose that is every week though.

  • byo34

Throw Scottie and Will Z into the guys who have played here category.

Deciding what to do with Cam Champ…Feels expensive but he has been playing well and on a course where he can bomb it without penalty seems like a nice spot..
